POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Marine, Specialty Risk, and Travel Insurance will oversee and expand the brokerage's portfolio in these specialized lines. This role manages a team dedicated to delivering exceptional service to clients in niche markets, developing and executing programs with insurers and marinas. The manager will also focus on business growth, process enhancement, and team coaching to meet operational and sales objectives.

This position is vital for the growth and success of our brokerage in these markets. The Manager will be a key member of our leadership team, driving innovation, client satisfaction, and business expansion in these dynamic sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership and Coaching

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team focused on marine, specialty risk, and travel insurance.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance.
  • Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure team members meet or exceed client service standards and sales targets.

Program Development and Partnerships

  • Collaborate with the VP, Personal Insurance, with insurers and MGAs to develop tailored insurance programs.
  • Build relationships with marinas, boating clubs, and travel organizations to understand their needs and create customized coverage solutions.
  • Negotiate terms with insurers and service providers to ensure competitive pricing and quality coverage.
  • Review and optimize existing programs to align with market trends and customer needs.

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify opportunities to expand the brokerage’s presence through networking, new business acquisition, and market analysis.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, insurers, marinas, travel agencies, and industry associations.
  • Lead industry engagement, outreach, and marketing initiatives to increase awareness and attract clients.
  • Develop strategies to boost sales and market share in these sectors.

Process Improvement & Efficiency

  • Implement streamlined processes within the marine, specialty risk, and travel insurance lines.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve customer experience and reduce turnaround times.
  • Use data analytics to evaluate program performance and make adjustments as needed.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Client Relations & Service Excellence

  • Oversee the entire client service process, from policy issuance to claims management.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex client issues, providing guidance and solutions.
  • Build long-term relationships with key clients, offering ongoing support and identifying cross-sell opportunities.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all programs comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Stay informed on legal and market changes affecting marine, specialty, and travel insurance.
  • Manage risk protocols to mitigate potential risks for clients and the business.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance, or related field.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CIC, CISR, CRM) are advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of marine, specialty risk, and travel insurance products.
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with focus on these sectors.
  • Proven leadership and business development success.
  • Experience with insurance carriers, marinas, or travel partners is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of insurance products, trends, and risk management in these sectors.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business acumen, sales focus, and client retention skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in industry-specific software, CRM, and Microsoft Office.
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills with a results-driven approach.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
