Job Details
Basic Purpose of Position: To ensure that Line Maintenance meets the operational requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner utilizing company procedures and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement base plans in collaboration with the Supervisor group based on corporate and division strategies.
- Organize and lead regular meetings with staff to communicate corporate values, performance expectations, and accountabilities.
- Review organizational structure periodically to ensure clarity in lines of responsibility for maximum efficiency.
- Support Supervisors with staffing, training, and attendance management, and initiate staffing requisitions as needed.
- Guide and support Supervisors on discipline and administrative issues.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities with scheduled meetings and reporting.
- Coach and mentor Supervisors.
- Work with labor groups to ensure contract compliance regarding shift bids, vacations, and overtime.
- Review and update the base budget regularly, analyze spending reports, and participate in financial review meetings.
- Coach Supervisors on financial management and business planning.
- Adhere to policies and procedures prioritizing safety for all personnel and customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a unionized aircraft maintenance environment.
- Supervisory or management experience in line maintenance preferred.
- Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License required.
- Strong technical knowledge with safety focus.
- Skills in production management, process improvement, and benchmarking.
- Negotiation skills for vendor and labor contract management.
- Budgeting and fiscal management expertise.
- Knowledge of airline operations, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Experience with OEMs, vendors, and aircraft manufacturers.
- Knowledge of Maintenance program development and MSG-3 analysis.
- Leadership qualities capable of representing the organization.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Leadership and communication training, union management training, project management, and bilingual skills are assets.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
