Job Details

Basic Purpose of Position: To ensure that Line Maintenance meets the operational requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner utilizing company procedures and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement base plans in collaboration with the Supervisor group based on corporate and division strategies.
  2. Organize and lead regular meetings with staff to communicate corporate values, performance expectations, and accountabilities.
  3. Review organizational structure periodically to ensure clarity in lines of responsibility for maximum efficiency.
  4. Support Supervisors with staffing, training, and attendance management, and initiate staffing requisitions as needed.
  5. Guide and support Supervisors on discipline and administrative issues.
  6. Participate in Continuous Improvement activities with scheduled meetings and reporting.
  7. Coach and mentor Supervisors.
  8. Work with labor groups to ensure contract compliance regarding shift bids, vacations, and overtime.
  9. Review and update the base budget regularly, analyze spending reports, and participate in financial review meetings.
  10. Coach Supervisors on financial management and business planning.
  11. Adhere to policies and procedures prioritizing safety for all personnel and customers.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a unionized aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Supervisory or management experience in line maintenance preferred.
  • Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License required.
  • Strong technical knowledge with safety focus.
  • Skills in production management, process improvement, and benchmarking.
  • Negotiation skills for vendor and labor contract management.
  • Budgeting and fiscal management expertise.
  • Knowledge of airline operations, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Experience with OEMs, vendors, and aircraft manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance program development and MSG-3 analysis.
  • Leadership qualities capable of representing the organization.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Leadership and communication training, union management training, project management, and bilingual skills are assets.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
