Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 8+ years of IT systems management, infrastructure, or network administration experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with Google Workspace administration, Cisco Meraki networks, and cloud/DNS platforms (GCP/AWS/Cloudflare).
  • Experience integrating business systems via APIs and automation platforms; familiarity with endpoint management and cybersecurity tooling.
  • Strong communication and project management abilities; ability to represent Platform Calgary professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic direction and daily operations of IT infrastructure.

The Opportunity

As the Manager, IT, you will be the strategic enabler in upleveling the IT team. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead the strategic direction and daily operational excellence of our IT infrastructure, ensuring our systems are robust, secure, and proactively aligned with the organization’s strategic growth objectives. We are looking for a team member who possesses the technical acumen, strategic foresight, and the ability to translate complex IT requirements into clear, business-driven outcomes to engage effectively with our partners and stakeholders while understanding how their work supports our overarching strategic priorities.

The Day-to-Day Activities
  • Enterprise-level operating system: Designs and optimizes enterprise-level operating system deployments and hardware infrastructure. Develops best practices for performance and scalability.
  • Network architectures:Designs, implements, and secures complex network architectures (LAN, WAN, cloud networking). Optimizes network performance and resilience..
  • IT governance frameworks: Develops and implements IT governance frameworks, ensuring all IT operations meet regulatory, security, and internal compliance standards across the organization.
  • Cyber security: Works closely with third party cyber security vendor to design and implement enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategies. Ensures organizational compliance with security standards, and supports the vendor on penetration testing and incident response execution.
  • Technical support processes: Supports and enables the team to develop and optimize technical support processes and tools. Mentors support staff and handle critical, high-impact technical escalations.
  • Analytics: Develops advanced analytical models and dashboards for IT operations, security, and performance. Provides data-driven insights for strategic IT decision-making.
  • Enterprise software: Develops enterprise software strategy and architecture. Designs complex integrations across the tech stack. Leads vendor negotiation strategy, contract renegotiation, and vendor risk/exit planning. Optimizes overall software spend across the organization.
  • Enterprise-wide data governance policies: Designs and enforces policies related to IT. Develops strategies for Personal Identifiable Information protection, secure data architecture, and comprehensive access control frameworks.
  • Hardware lifecycle: Develops hardware lifecycle strategy and multi-year replacement budget. Sets organizational hardware standards (approved models/specs). Owns vendor contract negotiation and Total Cost of Ownership analysis across device classes. Ensures decommissioning practices meet compliance/data protection requirements.
  • IT budget: Owns IT budget creation, long-range forecasting, and scenario planning in the forecasting software. Reports variance and return on investment to leadership, sets department-wide spend priorities, and manages the approval/authority matrix for IT spend.
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity strategies: Designs and implements enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity strategies related to IT. Ensures organizational resilience, compliance with Recovery Time / Recovery Point Objectives, and leads critical incident response along with the vendor.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drives improvements and enables change across the organization. Specifically in this role, acts as a role model in utilizing AI to uplevel all operations for the company, seeking out inefficiencies to build automated solutions with governance and risk in mind.
  • Team Collaboration: Mentor and develop IT team members by fostering a culture of continuous learning, service-oriented support, and technical excellence.
  • The Platform Way: Participate in Platform’s ongoing Continuous Improvement initiatives and embrace our "All Hands" values by assisting with internal events and other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 8+ years of experience in IT systems management, infrastructure, or network administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team lead capacity.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Google Workspace administration, network infrastructure (Cisco Meraki), and cloud/DNS platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Cloudflare). Experience building and maintaining integrations between business systems (APIs, automation platforms) is a strong asset. Experience with endpoint/device management and cybersecurity tooling (e.g., MDM/EDR, phishing simulation/security awareness platforms) is also a strong asset. Experience with AI tools to improve enterprise workflows.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to act as a polished representative of Platform Calgary.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and see tasks through from planning to execution.
