Manager, Human Resources & Payroll

As part of our continued expansion, we are looking for a manager to join our Human Resources team in Montreal, Quebec.

The HR & Payroll Manager (M1-G6) will oversee a wide range of HR functions, office management, employee relations, and global payroll administration, ensuring smooth daily operations and compliance with local regulations and company policies. This role will manage a small team, including an HR Business Partner in the USA and a Payroll Clerk in Montreal.

Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources in Europe, this role is essential in promoting a positive work environment, managing employee engagement, and ensuring legal compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience with global technology companies and a strong understanding of their needs.

The Role

As HR & Payroll Manager, your responsibilities include:

  1. Payroll & Compensation:
    • Managing end-to-end payroll processing for Canada, the USA, and other regions in Europe and Asia, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Collaborating with payroll vendors for timely disbursements and reporting.
    • Leading projects related to payroll systems and vendor management.
    • Overseeing benefits administration, including health insurance, leave policies, and employee perks.
    • Working with finance and accounting for payroll reporting and payments.
  2. Employee Relations:
    • Acting as a key contact for workplace issues and conflict resolution.
    • Conducting investigations into employee complaints, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
    • Ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.
  3. Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:
    • Partnering with recruitment teams and department heads for talent acquisition and onboarding.
    • Participating in local recruitment events to build a candidate pipeline.
  4. Performance Management:
    • Supporting the performance review process and assisting managers with related queries.
  5. Payroll & Compensation (India):
    • Managing payroll processing for India, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
    • Collaborating with vendors and finance teams for reporting and payments.
  6. Corporate Medical Insurance Coordination:
    • Managing relationships with insurance brokers and third-party administrators for medical insurance matters.
  7. Qualifications & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent certification.
    • 8+ years in HR & Payroll operations.
    • Experience with Ceridian PowerPay, TriNet, BambooHR preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of Canadian and US labor laws and HR best practices.
    • Experience with global tech companies and recruitment for technical roles.
    • Experience in employee relations investigations and payroll systems management.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
