Job description

Overview

EY has a well-established Climate Change and Sustainability practice that responds to our clients’ growing need for guidance in key areas, including social and environmental sustainability, climate change, sustainable finance, and environment, health & safety (EHS). Our services include strategy and implementation, impact measurement, policy and program assessment, management system design, assurance over sustainability-related data, and greenhouse gas emission verification. The Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCASS) team is growing rapidly, and as a Manager you will play a key role in expanding our EHS advisory services across many industries.

Key Responsibilities

As a Manager, you will support the delivery of complex EHS advisory engagements from scoping through to execution and client outcomes. You will operate across strategy, assessment, and implementation mandates, think critically, navigate ambiguity, and contribute to practical, business-driven solutions. You will work closely with senior client stakeholders and internal leadership teams, translating technical EHS considerations into clear business impacts and actionable recommendations. The role offers exposure to diverse engagements spanning operations, risk, and digital enablement, requiring strong collaboration across service lines, business development support, high-quality deliverables under tight timelines, and management of engagement delivery across multiple workstreams. Regular travel across Canada (approximately 30% – 40%) will be required.

Client Leadership
  • Lead a team to deliver a variety of EHS consulting engagements, including strategy, enterprise safety culture transformation, EHS management system design and implementation, risk assessments, and audit programs.
  • Support engagements involving EHS data, reporting, and systems, working with digital teams to align business needs with technology capabilities.
  • Lead and facilitate client meetings, drive discussions with senior executives and leadership teams.
  • Develop high-quality written deliverables and client presentations.
  • Understand the client’s industry and key performance drivers, business trends, and emerging technical developments.
  • Stay informed of general business and economic developments and their impact on the client.
  • Establish expectations of value to be delivered.
  • Maintain productive client relationships and demonstrate technical expertise.
  • Assist with client relationship, engagement activities, business development, and account management efforts.
  • Contribute to structuring client problems, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Translate technical EHS concepts into clear business implications and practical actions.
  • Support executive and working sessions by preparing materials, synthesizing inputs, and capturing outcomes.
  • Contribute to development of work plans, analyses, and deliverables across engagements.
  • Manage day-to-day execution of workstreams, ensuring progress against timelines and scope.
Team Leadership
  • Lead cross-functional/matrix teams to ensure timely, accurate, and effective implementation of engagements that achieve client objectives.
  • Delegate work successfully; conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback and training.
  • Demonstrate exceptional project management capabilities and communication skills.
  • Use technology and other resources to continually learn, share knowledge, and enhance service delivery.
  • Maintain a personal educational program for continuous skill development.
  • Develop long-term relationships and networks both internally and externally.
  • Work with teams and networks to generate new business opportunities.
  • Exhibit energetic, passionate, and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Commit to teamwork and leadership.
  • Show advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have exposure to proposal development and/or client-facing deliverables.
  • Structure and analyze complex problems, contributing to practical, actionable solutions.
  • Produce high-quality, structured deliverables under tight timelines.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail and alignment between analysis and outputs.
  • Stay aware of emerging AI and digital tools to support analysis, reporting, and service delivery.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • 5–8+ years of consulting, project management, or industry experience focused on EHS risks and opportunities, operational safety, or related areas. Experience should cover strategy evaluation and development, management system design and implementation, process improvement, and reporting. At least two of the following areas of expertise: environment, occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, or operational risk.
  • Fluency in both French and English is required; bilingualism is a prerequisite.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • Experience working with or implementing EHS/IT platforms such as ServiceNow, Cority, Intelex, or Enablon, including basic workflows and reporting.

  • Generous vacation policy and firm-paid days for longer weekends, statutory holidays, and paid personal days based on province of residence.
  • Support and coaching from engaging colleagues.
