Job summary

The Canadian Red Cross is seeking a Manager, Grants Programs within Recovery Services. The role leads active grant programs, oversees Grant Officers, and drives grant practice excellence across various teams and geographies in Canada.

You will support monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement while ensuring alignment with grant standards and community needs. A hybrid work arrangement and travel within Canada are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–7 years of Indigenous grantmaking experience in non-profit, humanitarian, or community development sectors.
• 3-year college diploma or university degree in social sciences, health sciences, emergency management, or community development.
• Experience with Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) is preferred.
• Fluency in English required; French is a strong asset.
• Supervisory or management experience with leadership and team development.

Compensation Range (CAD) $78,699 - $83,618

The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Senior Manager, the Manager, Grant Programs manages the delivery of grant programs within the Recovery Services as well as in collaboration with other service lines. The Manager will provide leadership to Grants Officers and other personnel involved in grant programs with a focus on building granting capacity, ensuring programs are delivered in alignment with grant standards and practices, and creating positive grant experiences with grantee organizations. They will play a key role in program monitoring and reporting.

In this role, you will:

Manage the delivery of active grant programs with focus on ensuring implementation of all programs in alignment with established granting practices and standards.

Oversee a team of Grant Officers, providing guidance and operational oversight, and developing workplans and career development plans for assigned staff.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with other members of recovery services, corporate and support services, geographies, and service lines.

Monitor active grant programs through feedback, field visits, and file / record reviews to inform continuous learning, reporting and quality assurance requirements.

Contribute to reporting on grant programs for internal and external stakeholders including collating data and information, providing narrative content and identifying ways to demonstrate granting insights and achievements.

Facilitate an environment of continuous learning and improvement by proactively identifying and actioning areas for improvement.

Contribute to the testing and implementation of new grant approaches, tools, and systems.

What we look for:

Qualifications include a minimum of 4-7 years experience in Indigenous grantmaking in the non-profit, humanitarian, or community development sectors

3-year college diploma or university degree in social sciences, health sciences, emergency management, community development.

The ideal candidate has lived and/or has professional experience with First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis Nations or communities.

Active in broader Indigenous networks and has an enduring commitment to sharing and advancing knowledge derived through Indigenous knowledge systems including balancing Western and Indigenous world views

Written and oral communication skills in English is required; French is considered a strong asset.

Supervisory or management experience with leadership and team management skills and the ability to manage performance, resolve conflicts and engage employees.

Strong program/service management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring.

Knowledge of performance measurement, impact evaluation, and data analysis to assess program effectiveness.

Experience with financial management, grant reporting, and resource allocation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint is required. Proficiency in database platforms and interactive data visualization software preferred.

Working conditions:

The majority of the work is performed in an office or home environment.

Some work may be performed in an environment which may have varying degrees of impact from the disaster or emergency situation.

Occasional requirement to work overtime hours, often with short notice.

Requirement to travel with Canada.

A valid driver's license is required with a satisfactory drivers’ abstract.
