Job description

Positioned at the intersection of sustainability, technology, and critical resource recovery, pH7 Technologies is tackling urgent global challenges in mining and metal recycling by providing innovative closed-loop metal extraction processes. We are a dynamic, fast-paced company driven by a culture of innovation and collaboration. Our team is committed to attracting and retaining top, diverse talent who share our vision of building a better, cleaner planet.

The Opportunity

The Manager, Government Affairs & Funding will identify and prioritize funding opportunities, build relationships with government and funding organizations, develop compelling technical and business cases, and lead opportunities from initial conversations through application, award, and reporting.

This is not simply a grant-writing role. We are looking for someone who can understand complex technology, speak credibly with technical teams and government stakeholders, and proactively build the relationships that create funding opportunities before they are formally announced.

The initial focus will be Canada and the United States, with opportunities to expand into other jurisdictions as pH7's mining and recycling activities grow. Strong U.S. experience is required.

What You'll Do
  • Own pH7's strategy and pipeline for non-dilutive funding and government programs.
  • Monitor and map federal, provincial/state, and regional funding opportunities across Canada and the U.S., with future expansion to other areas pH7 will operation (e.g., Latin America)
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities based on strategic fit, potential value, timing, and likelihood of success.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government departments, agencies, funding organizations, and senior stakeholders.
  • Develop relationships proactively so pH7 is part of the conversation before funding programs are launched.
  • Lead high-value funding opportunities from initial concept through application, award, and reporting.
  • Work with technical and commercial teams to understand pH7's technology and translate complex concepts into compelling technical and business cases.
  • Coordinate internal contributors and manage application timelines, submissions, negotiations, and reporting requirements.
  • Represent pH7 at relevant government, industry, mining, technology, and sustainability conferences and events.
  • Monitor geopolitical, economic, and policy trends to identify emerging opportunities for pH7.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic government co-investment in major projects.
You'll Bring
  • Relevant experience in government affairs, government relations, strategic funding, grants, public-sector partnerships, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success securing government grants, non-dilutive funding, or strategic public investment.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. government funding programs.
  • A proven ability to build trusted relationships across government and institutional organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling technical and business cases.
  • The curiosity and ability to learn complex technical subject matter and communicate about it credibly. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable learning about technologies such as metal extraction, recycling, and heap leaching.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • A commercial mindset and the ability to focus time and resources on the highest-value opportunities.
  • An entrepreneurial approach and the ability to identify opportunities without waiting to be told where to look.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for government meetings, conferences, and industry events.

Experience in mining, critical minerals, metal recycling, clean technology, advanced hardware, or industrial technology is an asset. Experience with Indigenous relations, permitting, licensing, or mining stakeholders is also valuable.

  • Base salary range: $130,000-$150,000
  • Compensation packages that scale with seniority, including ESOP equity and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive, 100% company-funded extended health and dental coverage
  • Access to free and low-cost mental health and wellness resources
  • Three (3) weeks of paid vacation
  • Ongoing professional development and growth opportunities
  • Monthly all-staff team huddles with company updates, team-building activities, and social connection
  • Regular opportunities to celebrate team achievements and milestones together

All applicants will be required to participate in a criminal history and credit history background check as part of the onboarding process. All employment offers at pH7 Technologies are contingent upon successfully completing and passing these checks.
