Job description

Overview of Role

As Product Manager, you will work with strategic customers and internal advanced engineering teams to define the requirements and guide development of Sixone’s recycling technology from development into reliable, operational capacity. You will bridge business strategy with technical execution, owning feature delivery from concept to market. This role demands both strong product leadership in both business and technical aspects, working within a dynamic Agile environment to drive product development while collaborating across multiple teams and stakeholders. Previous experience in software engineering is highly valued.

This role requires a balance of hands-on technical oversight, meticulous project management, and strong people leadership to ensure all scale-up efforts are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. Success hinges on close collaboration with R&D, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Business Development, and key external partners.

Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy and Roadmap
  • Own the product-line strategy and execution, including new opportunities.
  • Final decision owner for product scope, requirements, and launch readiness.
  • Build business cases, prioritize initiatives, and drive products through our commercialization process.
  • Monitor competitive landscape, customer needs, and market signals to guide product direction.
  • Prioritize roadmap scope, sequencing, and lifecycle transitions based on commercial impact.
  • Commercialization and Go to Market Execution
  • Engage directly with customers and partners to validate market needs, support solution definition, and resolve product-related escalations.
  • Define commercial requirements and target margins that guide supplier negotiations, while coordinating with the internal team on cost roadmaps and updates.
  • Evaluate vendor cost changes and model the impact on product pricing, competitiveness, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Own product line commercial performance, including revenue, forecasting accuracy, inventory health, pricing discipline, and margin contribution.
  • Coordinate across marketing, engineering, sales, production, and suppliers for aligned execution.
  • Identify risks, remove blockers, and enforce cross functional accountability.
  • Lead structured customer discovery and feedback loops to inform roadmap, requirements, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Convert VoC inputs into actionable product requirements and commercial opportunities.
  • Advocate for customer needs without losing objectivity.
  • Develop and improve user stories from both software and hardware perspectives, and translate them into business and technical requirements.
Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field
  • Previous experience working in a startup environment
  • 3+ years of experience in technical and business product management
  • Previous experience working in technology manufacturing, automation, robotics, system engineering, or sensor integration
  • 2+ years of software engineering (preferably full-stack)
  • Strong track record of managing technical teams and/or external software contractors through prototyping to commercialization.
  • Hands-on problem-solving ability with experience.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to translate technical issues to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of development lifecycles and ability to translate strategic vision for development teams
  • Strong requirement elicitation, analysis, use case modeling, and documentation skills
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies (i.e., Jira, Confluence).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to support business cases
  • Excellent negotiating abilities
  • High attention to detail with ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to take on responsibilities beyond the defined job scope as needed.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada and eligible to travel cross-border to the USA.
