- The candidate will be responsible for managing a team to achieve optimal performance in delivering regional goals and objectives.
- The candidate will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of the organization’s corporate strategies related to the delivery of First Nations consultation.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing First Nation engagement strategies and action plans to address emerging client needs, monitoring implementation, evaluating results, and determining appropriate follow-up actions to ensure consultation requirements are met.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of new strategic business processes related to First Nations consultation.
- The candidate will be responsible for building relationships with provincial colleagues across all locations to gather information on First Nations consultation requirements, trends, and opportunities.
- The candidate will be responsible for participating in provincial-level government decisions regarding major initiatives, resourcing, budgets, and scheduling related to First Nations consultation.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing in-depth knowledge of local First Nations issues and client business by identifying and addressing knowledge gaps related to sector-wide resource management and local information.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing professional First Nations consultation advice to clients regarding options and activities within their area of specialty.
- The candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, assigning work, developing and evaluating performance plans, approving leave requests, responding to grievances, and exercising disciplinary authority.
- The candidate will be responsible for directing and designing the implementation of new government policies related to First Nations consultation for Natural Resource Agencies.
- The candidate will be responsible for leading new initiatives and recommending policy or program changes related to First Nations consultation within government policy.
- The candidate will be responsible for overseeing First Nations consultation staff to ensure the Crown’s duty to consult is fulfilled on major multi-agency projects, including the clean energy project.
- The candidate will be responsible for developing, negotiating, and managing professional services contracts.
- The candidate will be responsible for managing the sub-regional budget and any additional funding sources, including acting as the expense authority.
- The candidate will be responsible for participating in special projects and assignments as requested.
- The candidate will be responsible for acting on behalf of the Director of Resource Authorizations as required.

Job Requirements
- The candidate must possess a Master’s degree or higher in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Agrology, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, along with at least three (3) years of recent, related experience.
- The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Agrology, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, along with at least four (4) years of recent, related experience.
- The candidate must possess a Diploma in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Agrology, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, along with at least seven (7) years of recent, related experience.
- The candidate will be considered if they possess a suitable combination of education, training, and/or relevant experience.
- The candidate must have obtained the required experience within the last eight (8) years.
- The candidate must possess a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or be able to obtain one within six (6) months.
- The candidate must have experience leading consultations and/or participating in negotiations with Indigenous peoples.
- The candidate must have experience building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities.
- The candidate must have experience leading and resolving complex issues involving staff and clients.
- The candidate must have experience supervising, leading, coaching, and mentoring staff.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience negotiating consultation agreements.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in the natural resource sector, including forestry, mining, land, water, or wildlife.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience managing multiple projects and assignments.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience consulting with First Nations communities in Northern BC.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience supervising employees in a BC union environment.
- The candidate must be willing and able to travel as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- The candidate must meet the safety standards established by WorkSafeBC.
- The candidate must be located in British Columbia at the time of employment.
