Ottobock - Manager of Finance

We are seeking a Manager of Finance to join our Finance team in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. This is a full-time, permanent position with a hybrid work schedule.

The Manager of Finance will oversee the financial operations of Ottobock HealthCare Canada. Key responsibilities include financial reporting, budgeting, costing, tax, audit, financial modeling, trend analysis, and the preparation of financial reports. The role involves developing and implementing policies and procedures for business processes and internal controls, leading the local accounting team, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage accounting operations, including journal entries, payroll, accounts payable and receivable.
  • Collaborate with Operations to improve current processes and manage R&D programs for CCRA and accounting requirements.
  • Analyze and report on the organization’s financial performance using operational, financial, and statistical data.
  • Coordinate month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
  • Forecast future quarterly results in collaboration with department leads.
  • Prepare adjusting and closing entries; handle monthly and ad hoc reports; ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP, IFRS, and other standards.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process with department input.
  • Support goal setting, metrics development, and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate year-end tax and audit activities.
  • Develop and maintain standard manufacturing costs, perform variance analysis, and provide leadership with insights and recommendations.
  • Supervise accounting staff, participate in staffing processes, and provide feedback and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Assist teams with technical financial questions and proactively resolve issues.
  • Participate as an active member of the Canadian Leadership Team.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Business or Accounting; advanced degree or professional designation (CA, CPA, CMA, CMT) preferred.
  • Extensive experience in corporate accounting and financial management.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments, with strong cost accounting knowledge; familiarity with Canadian GAAP and IFRS is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, provincial, and local financial regulations.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, strategic planning, and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
