Salary Range : $102,322.00 - $126,992.00
Position purpose : Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, provides the faculty or service with leadership in the sound management of its financial resources. Establishes, improves and updates the faculty or service’s financial management framework, including monitoring and controlling financial activities. Provides guidance, training, expert advice, support and recommendations to management and other members of the faculty or service in relation to financial management.
In this role, your responsibilities will include :
Resource Planning : Works with management to set short-, medium- and long-term planning objectives, budget priorities and financial strategies for faculty budgets, including special programs and projects. Plans, coordinates and conducts complex financial studies and analyses to make recommendations to management.
Reporting and Financial Tool Design : Creates and manages complex financial reports and analytical tools such as dashboards, performance and quality control indicators, and costing models to support decision making and ensure the faculty or service’s financial resources are managed in a consistent and efficient manner.
Financial Management : Plans and coordinates the budgeting process, conducts analyses and issues budget forecasts. Ensures that funds are available and recommends appropriate measures to members of the faculty or service. Ensures that the Faculty or Service complies with the financial policies, administrative procedures and guidelines of the University and funding agencies to ensure the sound management of the faculty or service’s finances.
Expert Consulting : Provides expert advice to members of the Faculty or Service in relation to financial and accounting operations, as well as associated policies and procedures so that internal system controls are efficient and effective. Trains and coaches faculty staff with financial responsibilities to ensure that their financial operations are consistent and properly conducted.
Compensation : Plans, implements and controls all compensation-related activities for faculty or service staff to ensure thoroughness and prevent errors or delays. Complies with the various compensation-related legal and fiscal provisions.
Policies and Procedures : Develops and implements new work processes, procedures and methods, and modifies existing ones, for all members of the faculty or service to improve operational efficiency and ensure that financial operations comply with the policies, guidelines and laws governing the University.
Communication and Liaison : Develops, implements and maintains effective communication channels with all members of the faculty or service when it comes to internal financial operations, procedures and processes to ensure that financial transactions and financial reports are consistent and comprehensive. Liases with central administration in order to respond to external auditors’ requests. Serves on various committees and working groups in order to share useful information and help improve university policies, procedures and financial processes.
Special Projects : Plans, manages and evaluates assigned special projects related to finances, budgets or physical and material resources. Defines special project scopes, determines steps, monitors relevant progress, makes adjustments throughout the process and ensures efficient communication between participants.
Human Resources Management : Hires, supervises and evaluates direct reports, and ensures that they have the training and tools needed to efficiently and effectively do their jobs. Applies human resources management procedures and regulations.
