We’re looking for our next Manager, Finance. Could it be you?

The Manager, Finance will be a key member of the Finance team supporting Financial Close and Reporting. Reporting to the Director, Financial Accounting, the Manager, Finance will lead the monthly financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and ad hoc analysis as requested by Senior Management. The Manager, Finance will also assist with internal and external audits, technical accounting research and analysis, and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting in addition to supporting junior team members through training and mentorship.

This position requires excellent attention to detail, advanced skills in Excel, and financial reporting experience with a financial institution.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Providing guidance and mentorship to the Accounting team, including training on new accounting treatments and policy changes.

Overseeing and enhancing monthly financial close processes, identifying and implementing efficiency improvements..

Reviewing and approving journal entries, bank reconciliations, and sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliations along with period end accruals.

Supporting the execution of complex technical accounting steps and issues, including coordination of other business units and departments.

Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounts payable/receivable sub-ledgers and their alignment with financial statements.

Managing related party transactions and resolving intercompany reporting discrepancies.

Updating policies to comply with new accounting pronouncements and providing accounting policy guidance to users throughout the Company.

Staying current with changes in IFRS and updating accounting policies to ensure they are in accordance with IFRS.

Reviewing the accounting treatment and impacts of new products and transactions.

Recommending, implementing, and maintaining process improvements within the Finance department and in other departments as identified and required.

Keeping the Director, Financial Accounting informed of any issues that may impact reporting timelines or controls, and propose potential solutions.

Overseeing the preparation of financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Assisting with the preparation of the quarterly Board presentations.

Maintenance of procedure manuals for accounting and reporting functions.

Identifying and implementing areas for continuous improvements in financial and management reporting.

Preparing internal and external audit requests and maintaining appropriate control documentation.

Supporting the FP&A team with variance analysis from the budget and financial targets while reporting on any issues and implementing corrective measures.

Ad Hoc Strategic Analysis as required by Senior Management.

Representing the department on cross-functional projects, providing functional expertise and recommendations.

Hold a CPA designation

Are a University graduate, with business/accounting specialization

Have 5+ years of experience working in a Professional Services firm with Financial Institution experience.

Are proficient with Google / MS Office Applications, NetSuite.

Have experienced with ERPs and Reporting tools like Power BI and others

Have advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with large data sets using Pivot tables, Vlookup, and formulas

Have strong business acumen and analytical skills, including conducting quantitative analysis

Can attend to detail while being able to step back to consider the impacts on the consolidated entity

Have aptitude to work with large amounts of data and to manipulate, arrange, and manage it effectively

Have ability to recognize issues and take initiative to find an effective solution

Can apply critical thinking to business issues and drive results

Can work independently as well as in a team setting

Have had exposure to Hedge Accounting, Forex, Expected Credit Loss, and Secured Funding Accounting
