About the role
LexisNexis Canada is seeking to hire a Manager, Secondary Content for the External Authors Team.
The person in this role is responsible for driving the success of content development and strategy, through financial planning, soliciting customer feedback, and leading a team to high performance.
The team is responsible for publishing dozens of new secondary titles and new editions each year, recruiting authors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of manuscripts.
Reporting to the Director, Secondary Content, this position will include the following:
Responsibilities:
Oversight of the Canadian English-language Secondary Content strategy: plan English-language content development initiatives, identify opportunities meeting the market needs, assess financial viability of new content proposals, manage portfolio to ensure achievement of publishing calendar, develop and maintain long-term strategy for online and print content that aligns with business goals;
Budget planning: create and revise budget forecasts, achieve revenue expectations for assigned portfolio, drive accelerations and revenue to meet financial targets and goals;
Continuous improvement: drive process improvement initiatives, identify cost savings opportunities and implement changes, lead experimentations to meet evolving business needs;
Team management: lead a team of legal professionals, recruit and optimize resource allocation, delegate efficiently tasks and mandates to the team, develop and monitor performance indicators to maintain a high-performing team;
Collaboration with internal and external partners: collaborate with Editorial, Operations and Manufacturing teams to ensure optimal processing of publications, work with Marketing and Sales departments to build “go-to-market” strategies, collaborate with Customer Service to address customers queries, identify, develop and negotiate partnerships with external industry partners, build and maintain good public relations with the legal community, authors and industry partners.
Requirements:
A Canadian law degree, or a law degree from another jurisdiction with a Certificate of Qualification from Canada’s National Committee on Accreditation;
Experience in project management or coordination;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and achieve results;
Demonstrated adaptability and solution-oriented;
Ability to drive change and implement process improvements;
Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of cross-departmental project teams;
Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail;
Excellent communication (oral and written) and negotiation skills;
Proficiency in using generative AI or a willingness to become proficient, being open to experimenting with it, championing its use, and integrating it into the team’s workflow.

This position may be either primarily or fully home-based. Our Canadian head office is located in Toronto, Ontario and we have an office in Montréal, Québec.
