THE JOB: Manager, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.

Starting Salary Range: $92,077 - $115,096

Reporting to the Director, ISAR and EDI, the Manager, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) is responsible for delivering on the organization’s commitments to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

The Manager, EDI will oversee the organization’s EDI initiatives, including employee and member-facing activities, ensuring the integration of EDI principles throughout the organization. The Manager works with leadership bodies such as the Doctors of BC Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Advisory (IDEA) Committee, the Joint Collaborative Committees, and the EDI Employee Working Group.

The Manager, EDI cultivates trusting and respectful relationships with community leaders, educators, and representatives from equity-deserving groups.

Key roles and responsibilities include:
  1. Provides leadership, oversight, and strategic advice related to the organization’s EDI portfolios, identifying risks and recommending management strategies to leadership.
  2. Maintains knowledge of EDI issues, trends, legislation, and best practices.
  3. Guides and advises on integrating EDI principles within the Operations Department and organization-wide.
  4. Collects and analyzes data to evaluate EDI initiatives against industry standards and goals.
  5. Supports the operational components of the ISAR and EDI team, including leadership, staff development, mentorship, and guidance for direct reports responsible for EDI.

The Manager, EDI will advance strategies for elevating EDI and act as a strategic advisor to committees and staff, collaborating with other teams and partners like the Ministry of Health and Health Authorities to align activities with provincial strategies.

What you bring:
  • Preference for applicants with lived experience related to equity, diversity, and inclusion, especially Indigenous, Black, racialized communities, diverse gender identities or expressions, sexual orientations, or disabilities. Voluntary disclosure is optional and confidential.
  • Graduate degree and/or recognized professional designation in a relevant field, with up to six years of related experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience leading EDI initiatives in complex organizations.
  • Strategic problem-solving skills and ability to develop actionable plans.
  • Relationship-building, judgment, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in partner relations, especially with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of BC healthcare system components.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, identify issues proactively, and work under pressure.
  • Supervisory experience and team development skills.
  • Capacity to manage a flexible schedule, occasional travel, and outside hours as needed.
