Job summary

Mattamy Homes Canada is seeking a Manager of Design Quality & BIM Governance to lead QA/QC across architectural, design, and BIM deliverables throughout our projects. The role bridges traditional QA/QC with a manufacturing mindset to ensure designs are accurate, coordinated, and ready for fabrication and field execution.

The role requires reviewing designs, enforcing BIM governance, and coaching teams to maintain high standards while integrating with modular construction and permitting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in design, QA/QC, or BIM management; exposure to modular or manufacturing delivery.
• Experience leading design/model reviews and managing consultant deliverables.
• Experience implementing BIM execution plans and governance standards.

Responsibilities

• Establish, document, and maintain design QA/QC standards, checklists, and review protocols across all project phases.
• Lead drawing and model reviews at key milestones; identify design conflicts and quality risks early.
• Maintain BIM governance standards, modeling protocols, workflows, and naming conventions.
• Audit consultant and internal deliverables for quality and consistency; track issues to closeout.
• Ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing/construction requirements; resolve issues early.
• Monitor design KPIs, RFIs, and rework trends to identify systemic quality issues.
• Lead lessons-learned sessions and drive continuous improvement
• Support permitting, approvals, and code compliance reviews with authorities and stakeholders.
• Coach designers, technologists, and consultants on quality expectations and practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

We’re seeking an experienced Manager, Design Quality & BIM Governance to lead the quality assurance and governance of architectural, design, and BIM deliverables across our projects. What you’ll do

• Establish, document, and maintain design QA/QC standards, checklists, and review protocols across all project phases.
• Lead drawing and model reviews at key project milestones, identifying design conflicts, omissions, and quality risks early.
• Maintain and ensure adherence to BIM governance standards, modeling protocols, and workflows, including BIM execution plans, LOD requirements, and naming conventions.
• Audit consultant and internal team deliverables for quality and consistency, providing structured feedback and tracking issues through to closeout.
• Ensure alignment between design intent and modular, manufacturing and construction requirements, flagging and resolving constructability or manufacturability issues before they progress downstream.
• Monitor design-related KPIs, RFIs, and rework trends to identify systemic quality issues.
• Lead lessons-learned sessions and continuous improvement initiatives, feeding findings back into standards and training.
• Support permitting, approvals, and code compliance reviews, coordinating with jurisdictional authorities and internal stakeholders as needed.
• Coach designers, technologists, and consultants on quality expectations, standards, and best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related field required; professional licensure (e.g., RA, AIA) or progress toward licensure is an asset.
• 7+ years of experience in design, QA/QC, or BIM management, ideally including exposure to modular construction, prefabrication, or manufacturing-based delivery models.
• Demonstrated experience leading design and model reviews, and managing consultant deliverables through to closeout.
• Experience implementing BIM execution plans and governance standards.
• Proficiency in BIM modeling and BIM coordination tools, as well as other design tools.
• Strong understanding of building codes, regulatory approval processes, and construction documentation standards.
• Familiarity with quality management systems, KPI tracking, and RFI/rework analysis.
• Sharp attention to detail with the ability to identify systemic patterns across projects.
• Strong communication and coaching skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
• Analytical, collaborative mindset — comfortable turning RFI and rework data into actionable process improvements across design, engineering, manufacturing, and permitting teams.

Bonus points

• Experience in modular, panelized, or offsite/manufactured housing environments.
• Familiarity with lean or Six Sigma quality methodologies.
• Experience implementing BIM standards across multi-disciplinary, cross-office teams.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $130,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.
