Job summary

What we offer

The Architectural Technologist is a detail-oriented role that will translate design concepts into accurate, code-compliant construction documentation, with a focus on residential projects. This role suits a highly organized, self-motivated professional with strong technical drafting skills and solid knowledge of building codes and zoning requirements, and comfortable carrying documentation sets through to issue.

What you’ll do

• Prepare detailed and accurate technical construction packages for residential projects, including plans, elevations, sections, details and specifications.
• Develop and maintain building models and drawing sets using Revit.
• Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with applicable building codes and municipal requirements.
• Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and other consultants to integrate design and technical requirements.
• Review and interpret zoning regulations to confirm project compliance.
• Assist in preparing permit packages throughout application and approval processes.
• Support project teams throughout design development, construction documentation, and permitting phases with technical solutions and detailing.
• Manage concurrent projects and competing issue dates without loss of accuracy.
• Maintain organized project files and drawing revisions.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring

• Diploma or degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Building Technology, or a related field required.
• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in architectural documentation.
• Strong understanding of building systems, construction methodology, and detailing.
• Experience with residential construction projects is an asset.
• Strong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (or applicable local building code).
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit required.
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear, accurate, and complete permit and construction drawings packages.
• Solid understanding of municipal zoning by-laws and regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary team.

Bonus points

• BCIN (Building Code Identification Number) is an asset.
• Prior experience with residential design and construction projects specifically.
• Familiarity with permit submission processes.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $57,500 - $87,500. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.

You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy’s annual bonus program which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
