Qualifications

  • 5-7 years post-designation accounting experience.
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, business or related field.
  • 5+ years leadership experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic team environment with competing priorities.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software; NetSuite is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and lead collaboratively.
  • Ability to understand key business drivers and deliver results.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting function for business operations with strong internal controls.
  • Manage all aspects of the month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate budgeting and forecasting; provide direction and guidance.
  • Lead intercompany reconciliations and asset transfers.
  • Review tax filings and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide financial analysis and variance reporting to the executive team.
  • Support external auditors and implement system enhancements.

Our Finance Team:

Our team is responsible for providing accounting services and financial support across the organization. We continue to look for innovative and new ways to maximize efficiency and provide an excellent level of service to our internal and external customers.

Summary:

The Manager, Corporate Finance offers strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills to the Accounting and Finance team while bringing our values to life with exemplary leadership and a continuous improvement mindset.

In providing oversight to the accounting function for business operations, the key responsibilities of this role are as follows:

Responsibilities
  • Take reasonable care to protect his/her health and safety and that of other workers by following TARA Energy's safety policies & procedures, as well as government and industry regulations.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to the corporate finance and accounts payable team.
  • Manage all aspects of the month-end close.
  • Assist with weekly cash flow projections to assist with proper cash management.
  • Review both US and Canadian entry monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for any concerns, issues or unresolved items that require immediate attention.
  • Provide financial and variance analysis.
  • Work closely with the payroll team to ensure all payroll related entries are reported properly.
  • Review and approve all state, provincial and government monthly and quarterly tax filings and payments.
  • Prepare monthly management reports for review with Executive team.
  • Assist with fixed asset additions, disposals and intercompany bill of sale transfers.
  • Manage all inter-company reconciliations including asset transfers - maintaining a proper paper trail.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual Private Equity and stakeholder reporting requirements.
  • Prepare borrowing base calculations and certificates.
  • Other Treasury duties as required.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls.
  • Provide input and support to roll out accounting policies, procedures and processes.
  • Participate in all accounting related system developments, enhancements, and improvements.
  • Coordinate the budget and forecasting process, providing direction and guidance as required.
  • Coordinate and lead external auditor.
  • Manage data compilation for annual corporate tax provisions and filings working closely with external tax support.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements - including any MD&A analysis required.
  • Provide support for Board meeting materials.
  • Support internal stakeholders through interpretation and analysis.
  • Other ad-hoc duties and responsibilities as required.
Key Skills/Qualifications
  • 5-7 years post-designation accounting experience
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, business or related field.
  • 5+ years leadership experience
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic team environment with competing priorities.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software and enhancement with NetSuite experience being a benefit.
  • Experience with building analytical reports a definite asset.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills (both oral and wri8en).
  • Proven relationship building capabilities and a collaborative working style - strong leadership skills with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand key business drivers and fundamentals to deliver results and enhance company value.
