Job summary

BC Pension Corporation seeks a Manager, Corporate Communications and Engagement to shape corporate and executive communications, strengthening the organization’s reputation and external presence. You will be a trusted advisor, aligning messages with priorities and guiding a talented team through complex projects.

You will lead strategic communications, supervise staff, manage issues and stakeholder relations, and provide strategic advice to senior leaders on sensitive matters.

Qualifications

• Five years of recent leadership experience in communications, public relations or corporate communications in a complex organization.
• Experience developing executive-level communications materials, briefing notes, presentations or strategy documents.
• Experience leading issues management, crisis communications or reputation management initiatives.
• Ability to use research, data and analytics to measure communications effectiveness.
• Experience managing multiple priorities, deadlines and client relationships.

Salary range: $88,130.70 to $100,522.86 per annum

Hybrid Work Model

This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for on-campus presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month.

We are seeking a Manager, Corporate Communications and Engagement to join our team in VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada.

As Manager, Corporate Communications and Engagement, you will shape corporate and executive communications that advance BC Pension Corporation’s strategic priorities, strengthen its reputation and enhance its external presence. As a trusted senior advisor, you will provide clear, evidence-informed direction on high-profile matters and help align communications with corporate priorities.

You are a collaborative people leader who builds strong relationships, exercises sound judgement and manages competing priorities. You will guide and develop a talented team, oversee complex projects and turn strategic direction into clear, effective communications.

• Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing or a related field.
• Five years of recent (within 7 years) progressively responsible leadership experience in communications, public relations or corporate communications in a complex organization that includes:
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating corporate, external or executive communications strategies, plans and products.
  • Supervising staff in a communications, public relations or corporate communications environment, including assigning work, setting expectations, coaching employees, and supporting performance management.
  • Providing strategic communications advice, options and recommendations to senior leaders or executives on complex, sensitive or high-profile matters.
  • Developing executive-level communications materials, including briefing notes, presentations, reports, messaging, strategic narratives, strategy documents, or proposals.
  • Leading communications planning and delivery for issues management, crisis communications, reputation management or other sensitive matters.
  • Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement or public relations strategies for multiple audiences or stakeholder groups.
  • Using research, data, analytics, sentiment analysis or performance measures to assess communications effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Managing communications projects, client relationships, competing priorities, and deliverables in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Establishing collaborative working relationships with senior leaders, business areas and communications partners to support coordinated communications planning and delivery.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

Nice to have

• Developing, delivering and measuring integrated communications programs in government, a Crown corporation, a regulated industry or another complex public-facing organization.
• Overseeing multimedia communications products, such as publications, video, presentations, digital content, or other corporate communications materials.
