Job summary

Employment Posting: Manager, Communications

Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Manager, Communications leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of internal and external communications strategies that support Nipissing University’s strategic priorities, strengthen its reputation, and enhance its profile. The role oversees communications planning, media relations, content strategy, storytelling, and brand stewardship, ensuring accurate, consistent, high-quality and audience-focused messaging across all communication channels.

Working collaboratively across the University, the Manager provides communications guidance, project leadership, and support for initiatives that contribute to student recruitment, fundraising, ancillary revenue, research promotion, audience engagement, and institutional priorities.

The successful candidate will hold a university degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field, along with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in communications and public relations. The candidate will also have at least two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.

This position is classified at a salary level 5, with a wage range of $73,216 (Step 1) to $100,400 (Step 9). Placement within the range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and the candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.

A comprehensive group benefits and pension plan is offered, as well as a tuition subsidy for eligible dependents.
