Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Business Development based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and scale a high-performing outbound business development team within a growing SaaS environment. You will coach Business Development Representatives, strengthen prospecting strategies, and create the structure needed to support sustained revenue growth. Working closely with senior sales leadership, you will combine hands-on coaching with operational discipline and strategic thinking. Your impact will span team performance, pipeline generation, campaign execution, and sales process optimization. You will help build a culture of accountability, curiosity, continuous improvement, and collaboration. This is an ideal opportunity for a sales leader who enjoys developing people while staying close to the realities of outbound selling.

Accountabilities
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of high-performing outbound Business Development Representatives, fostering a collaborative and feedback-driven environment.
  • Establish a strong coaching culture by regularly reviewing call performance, talk tracks, emails, messaging, and prospecting techniques, while providing actionable feedback.
  • Partner closely with senior sales leadership to execute the outbound strategy, improve team performance, and support the continued expansion of the business development organization.
  • Own and continuously improve prospecting workflows, outbound campaigns, multi-touch sequences, and account targeting strategies for defined customer profiles.
  • Develop creative and highly targeted prospecting approaches, including strategic call plans, account plans, pre-call preparation, and campaign execution.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics, using data and business insights to identify gaps, improve execution, and achieve pipeline and sales objectives.
  • Ensure representatives effectively communicate the value proposition to prospects and consistently qualify outbound opportunities against established criteria.
  • Promote a culture of curiosity, ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement while ensuring team members remain connected and avoid working in silos.
  • Work cross-functionally with account teams and sales leadership to coordinate campaigns, strengthen pipeline development, and contribute to overall revenue performance.
  • Scale processes and operational practices that enable the business development function to operate efficiently as the organization and customer demand continue to grow.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant sales role, including at least 1-2 years in a people management, coaching, or team leadership position.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, develop, and improve sales representatives through structured coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Strong passion for outbound sales, cold calling, prospecting, and helping sales professionals continuously improve their performance.
  • Proven ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking, initiative, and effective day-to-day team management.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret sales metrics and use data to identify opportunities and drive business results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to coach representatives and communicate effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity, humility, integrity, accountability, transparency, and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.
  • High coachability and a collaborative approach to working with leadership, peers, and team members.
  • Experience with sales engagement and CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Outreach, SalesLoft, Gong, or 6sense is an asset.
  • Familiarity with prospecting tools such as ZoomInfo, UserGems, Lusha, Cognism, or LinkedIn Sales Navigator is preferred.
