Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation of the Council's annual work plan and strategic initiatives.
  • Track project milestones, timelines, deliverables, and follow-up actions across multiple workstreams.

  • Coordinate engagement with CEOs, senior executives, government officials, and partner organizations; plan and execute meetings and events.
  • Maintain project trackers, work plans, dashboards; manage vendor relationships and budget tracking.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, templates, and document repositories; provide general operational support.

Job description

The Manager, Business Council of Toronto (BCT) Implementation, supports the planning, coordination, and execution of the Council's strategic priorities and engagement activities. Working closely with the Director, Policy and Committee Relations, this role provides project management, secretariat support, stakeholder coordination, and operational assistance to ensure the effective delivery of Council initiatives.

This position is suited to a highly organized, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing projects involving senior executives, government officials, and business leaders.

Role Description

Project Coordination & Implementation

  • Coordinate the implementation of the Council's annual work plan and strategic initiatives.
  • Track project milestones, timelines, deliverables, and follow-up actions across multiple workstreams.
  • Draft presentations, briefing notes, and other materials for senior leadership and Council members.

Secretariat & Governance

  • Serve as secretariat for the Business Council of Toronto.
  • Draft agendas, meeting materials, briefing notes, and records of discussion.
  • Track decisions and action items, ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Maintain governance documents, membership records, annual work plans, and document version control.

Stakeholder Engagement & Events

  • Coordinate engagement with offices of CEOs, senior executives, government officials, and partner organizations.
  • Plan and execute Executive Table meetings, Council meetings, roundtables, and special events, including venue logistics, registration, speaker coordination, briefing materials, and post-event follow-up.

Operations & Administration

  • Maintain project trackers, work plans, dashboards.
  • Maintain accurate member, stakeholder, and governance databases, ensuring updates are reflected across external-facing documents and communications.
  • Work across internal departments to coordinate vendor relationships, contract renewals and budget and expense tracking.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, templates, and document repositories to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Provide general operational and administrative support to the BCT team.

Your experience includes:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, public policy, political science, economics, communications, or a related field is an asset.
  • 2-3 years of experience in project coordination, executive support, stakeholder relations, government relations, public policy, or a related field.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level materials.
  • Experience supporting meetings involving senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
