Job description

Job Purpose:
Reporting to the SVP, Business and Legal, this role is responsible for supporting the in-house counsel and will oversee the administration primarily of all development contracts with some production and brand extension contract responsibility. This role will liaise with agents, executives and talent and ensure timely contracting and payment of development agreements ad will be responsible for managing all correspondence and contract files, drafting, processing and monitoring development agreements as required. They will also maintain familiarity with funding guidelines and prepare guild agreements as required by Business Affairs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating and drafting, as required, option, WGC, WGA and ACTRA contracts as needed by production and liaising with agents to ensure that contracts are satisfactory.
  • Coordinating, reviewing and negotiating broadcaster and funder development agreements.
  • Liaising with the Finance department and Creative team to ensure that talent payments are processed on time and funder payments are invoiced and paid on time.
  • Maintaining all development contracts and correspondence files and liaising with the various departments to ensure timely submission of deliverables and invoices as required.
  • Managing option expiry dates.
  • Assisting with production matters as required.

  • Familiarity with WGC, ACTRA, CAVCO regulations/processes.
  • Familiarity with the various Funds' guidelines.
  • High comfort level liaising with creative staff.
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience dealing with external stakeholders.
  • Post secondary education as well as exceptional people skills.
  • Computer skills/ internet/ email.
  • Extremely organized with sound time-management skills and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent professional and diplomatic communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Accuracy, productivity and dependability are important attributes.
  • Industry experience preferred.
