Job summary

Greater Toronto Airports Authority is seeking a Manager, Asset Reliability to lead reliability initiatives for critical airport assets, including baggage handling systems and electrical infrastructure. You will identify failure causes, guide maintenance strategies, and work with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Project teams to boost uptime and asset lifecycle decisions.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in reliability, maintenance engineering, asset management or similar in a complex environment.
  • Experience in RCA, FMEA, reliability assessments, and structured problem-solving.
  • Experience with preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM platforms such as Maximo, SAP PM, Infor EAM or similar systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause investigations, reliability assessments, and failure analysis to identify recurring asset issues.
  • Analyze maintenance and asset data to spot trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
  • Support asset lifecycle planning, renewal strategies, and long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Provide reliability input to capital projects and commissioning activities.

What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Associate Director, Terminal Infrastructure Reliability, the Manager, Asset Reliability plays a key role in improving the reliability, availability, maintainability, and operational performance of critical airport infrastructure, including baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges, electrical systems, and other operational assets.

As the organization continues to strengthen its asset management capabilities, you will lead reliability initiatives that help reduce downtime, improve maintenance effectiveness, optimize lifecycle decisions, and support future infrastructure investments. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Project Delivery teams to understand how assets fail, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement data-driven strategies that enhance operational resilience.

As a Manager, Asset Reliability, you will:
  • Lead root cause investigations, reliability assessments, and failure analysis activities to identify and eliminate recurring asset failures.
  • Analyze maintenance, operational, and asset performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and optimize preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies that improve asset reliability and operational performance.
  • Support asset criticality assessments, lifecycle planning, asset renewal strategies, and long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Provide reliability expertise and technical input to capital projects, maintainability reviews, commissioning activities, and operational readiness initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain reliability-related KPIs and dashboards while translating technical data into actionable recommendations for business leaders.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of predictive maintenance technologies, condition monitoring tools, and data-driven maintenance practices.
  • Lead and develop reliability-focused resources, consultants, and team members while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Build strong partnerships with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, project teams, contractors, and equipment manufacturers to deliver reliability improvements.
  • Champion a proactive reliability culture focused on safety, performance, innovation, and operational excellence.
This is the role for you if you have:
  • A university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in reliability, maintenance engineering, asset management, or a similar discipline within a complex operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), reliability assessments, and structured problem-solving activities.
  • Experience developing preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Experience working with CMMS/EAM platforms such as Maximo, SAP PM, Infor EAM, or similar systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to transform complex technical data into practical business recommendations.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, or leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency with data analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL, or equivalent platforms.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse technical and operational groups.
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position.
