Job description

Ki te ora te wai, ka ora te whenua, ka ora te tangata
When the water is healthy, the land and the people are healthy

Watercare is the largest water and wastewater utility in New Zealand supplying more than 400 million litres of water to Auckland every day. Now is an exciting time to join Watercare; we're planning to spend $18.5 billion over the next 20 years to ensure we can continue to support our growing city in a climate-resilient way. When you average that out, that's an investment of $2.5 million every day.

It doesn't just stop there; we ensure that sustainability lies at the heart of everything that we do to help protect our water resources for future generations. This means that we are continuously focused on how we can reduce our whole of life carbon footprint through our construction programme, and across the lifecycle operation of our assets. We really are a company that wants to make a positive difference.

Reporting to the Head of Sustainability and Innovation, the Manager - Asset Lifecycle is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Watercare's Asset Lifecycle practices, processes, strategic insight and supporting systems.

This includes the development, implementation and ongoing management of Watercare's Asset Lifecycle/Management Framework and the operation of processes, tools, insight and reporting development to ensure effective asset replacement and renewal programme delivery.

This is a people leader role which requires communication and collaboration across the wider business and with Watercare's diverse stakeholder and community groups to ensure that our Asset Lifecycle practices become integrated into the core of our business while being inclusive, progressive, adaptable and industry leading.

To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have the ability to easily build relationships with both internal and external parties and have strong leadership skills.

Your background will include:

  • 10+ years commercial experience in asset lifecycle practices and maintenance strategy identification, applicable to the water industry.
  • Extensive experience in the design, development and execution of asset renewal strategies and programmes.
  • Extensive Operational Readiness experience and capability and working experience of enterprise asset management systems and implementation practices including asset availability, reliability & maintainability improvement programs such as Reliability Centred Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis/FMECA etc.

Commercial/financial management experience, a formal management qualification and water industry experience are desirable although not essential.

We offer a competitive salary and staff benefits package including:

  • Hybrid flexible working.
  • Generous parental leave policy.
  • Employee discounts at a range of large retailers.
  • Modern offices in the heart of Newmarket with easy access to public transport.
  • Discounted parking.
  • An onsite free gym.
