About the Role:

Reporting into the Senior Director-Engineering and Plant Services, the Director of Asset Reliability is responsible for ensuring that an organizations physical assets such as machinery, equipment, and infrastructure operate reliably and efficiently. This role involves the development and implementation of maintenance strategies, conducting risk assessments and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and optimize asset performance.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide Leadership and establish overall vision and direction for Maintenance Organization within Maple Lodge Farms Network. Lead and coach a high performance, knowledgeable, and responsive Maintenance and Asset Reliability team.
  • Develop and Implement Maintenance Strategies and create and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance plans to reduce unplanned downtime and enhance asset reliability for Maple Lodge Farms Operations.
  • Conduct Reliability Assessments and perform studies and analyses to identify potential risks and areas for improvement in asset performance. Understanding of an asset lifespan and able to conduct a repair/replace evaluation
  • Manage / Optimize Maintenance Programs and oversee the execution of maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Continue to optimize work processes such as CMMS system and CBM initiatives.
  • Organizational Capabilities Development to develop capabilities in the Maintenance Team to further the High-Performance Team Culture. Assist with development of Machine Operators to develop base Maintenance capabilities for Autonomous Maintenance Tasks.
  • Review and forecasts annual Repairs & Maintenance costs for Maple Lodge Farms Operations including labour, spares, contractor, etc. costs. Provide key input for Capital Planning for Asset Replacement Strategy. Monitor the financial performance of the Maintenance Department against the approved budget to ensure we stay on targeted budget and identify potential performance improvement areas. Current MRO annual budget of $16MM and MRO Capital replacement $18MM.
  • MRO Parts Management: Knowledge of MRO levels and critical spare parts with an understanding of how to balance carrying costs against the uptime and age of equipment.
  • Prepare, recommend and manage a budget for the direct area of responsibility by conducting analysis and preparing data to support requested budget.
  • Monitor the financial performance of area of responsibility against approved budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized on.
  • Capital project submission approvals.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience in the field;
  • Minimum ten to fifteen years of technical experience in engineering and maintenance required;
  • Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • Advanced knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, Ammonia Refrigeration systems, BRC requirements etc.;
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;
  • Demonstrated success in building strong, collaborative teams, setting stretch objectives, and holding people accountable for commitments with a track record of delivery favorable results;
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Team-player with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Team-player with excellent leadership skills, able to motivate others, negotiate effectively, and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders;
  • General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office);
  • Process improvement including autonomous maintenance (TPM) 6 sigma and lean manufacturing. Knowledge of implementation of TPM programs in a manufacturing environment and development in plant culture;
  • Familiarity with reliability analysis tools, predictive maintenance techniques and asset management software.
