Job description

Make an impact with our Agronomy team as a manager within our West Central Saskatchewan Region. This diverse team of professionals specializes in multiple service offerings including full-service field scouting, variable fertility & seed mapping, crop intelligence moisture probes, and more. As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide comprehensive agronomic advice to our clients.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  1. Mentor, motivate, and coach agronomy team members in professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and addressing performance issues promptly.
  2. Oversee agronomist field operations including crop management, in-season recommendations, and customer planning throughout the year through regular field visits and other oversight.
  3. Work with Agronomy team members to set goals and objectives and monitor progress to ensure targets are met.
  4. Actively maintain up-to-date knowledge of current industry best practices and trends and communicate relevant information to team members, growers, and clients.
  5. Investigate and evaluate potential opportunities to provide further value to our clients.
  6. Raise awareness of MNP through discussions at community events including client and firm-sponsored functions. Network in local communities and consider business development opportunities.
  7. Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
  8. Willingness to work in an outdoor setting, maintain flexibility to travel as necessary, and contribute overtime hours as required during peak season.
  9. In addition to management responsibilities, maintain the flexibility to work hands-on with our clients to maintain practical skills, further build client relationships and referral sources, and maintain professional relevance with agronomy and agriculture. As such, responsibilities may also include:
    1. Conduct field scouting visits regarding plant stand/establishment, herbicide timing/efficacy, insect and disease management checks as needed.
    2. Perform soil tests and plant tissue tests as required, including analysis to develop recommendations.
    3. Carry out functions regarding VR Mapping, including mapping, soil sampling, ground truthing, plant stand & crop assessments.
    4. Conduct analysis through the winter months regarding fertility & seed recommendations, soil moisture data, yield data, etc.

Skills and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, or related field.
  2. Proven experience in agronomy management, including team leadership and performance management.
  3. Strong knowledge of agronomy principles, crop production, and soil science.
  4. Excellent training and development skills, including the ability to design and deliver impactful training programs.
  5. Believes in the purpose of agriculture and has a passion for our industry.
  6. Strong demonstrated communication skills with our clients, team, and industry stakeholders.
  7. Innovative thinker that solves problems with insight and intuition.
  8. Ability to work independently but also believes in collaboration and team synergy.
  9. Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to individuals at various levels of understanding.
  10. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  11. Valid driver's license.
