- Managing and overseeing the execution of stewarded and regulated field trial program operations in western Canada.
- Providing direction, guidance, and support to direct reports and their teams in their given regions.
- Ensuring internal and external compliance standards are clearly understood, communicated within the team, and executed for all operations in coordination with regulatory and stewardship.
- Participating in the local EHS program to ensure all activities are being performed safely and responsibly.
- Investigating and implementing improvements to the annual planning process and field program by identifying issues and challenges facing the program and developing solutions to meet these challenges.
- Establishing and maintaining industry presence and ensuring that BASF is up to date on current industry activities by participating in meetings and establishing contacts with external parties.

- A bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related discipline. Master’s degree in agriculture or related disciplines an asset.
- A Minimum 5 years of experience conducting small plot field research. Experience working in the canola industry required.
- A Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in stewarded & regulated field trialing, plant breeding, genetics, canola agronomy, canola botany, pollen flow, genetic purity, and conducting research trials using statistical design and analysis are all assets.
- Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting tractors, sprayers, plot combines, and other related small plot equipment an asset.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and an ability to be flexible and modify plans as required to minimize impact on data and production as situations arise.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships within the program and with external parties, as well as in the management of a team of agronomists.
- An ability to deliver results in a dynamic environment that requires adjustments to predetermined plans and the ability to execute adjustments in a manner that minimizes impact on desired results.
