Position Summary

Oxford is looking for a Manager with strong financial accounting and leadership skills to join our growing Global Entity Reporting team based in Toronto. In this role, you will be responsible for the full accounting cycle for a set of corporate legal and consolidated entities. Responsibilities include oversight of the month-end and quarter-end close process (including the recording and analysis of property and debt fair value mark to market), oversight of corporate level budgeting/forecasting, management and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, liaising with various stakeholders and external auditors, overseeing cash management of various structures, and completing technical accounting analysis. The Manager will also support debenture issuances and prospectus reviews, including the review and analysis of financial/non-financial information.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
  • Oversight and review of complex consolidated annual and quarterly financial statements in accordance with IFRS for lender compliance purposes;
  • Manage interim and year-end external audits, including review of supporting schedules;
  • Support debenture issuances, including financial and non-financial analysis;
  • Research and lead the resolution of complex technical accounting issues, including appropriate treatment for acquisitions/dispositions, accounting for financial instruments, and implementation of new accounting standards;
  • Responsible for the full cycle accounting for a portfolio of legal entities, including review of monthly journal entries, cash and equity reconciliations, investment property/debt continuities, intercompany account settlements, and validation of foreign currency translations;
  • Review of non-consolidated statutory financial statements and working papers for various legal entities;
  • Review of step memos, solvency tests, and other documentation necessary to support income distributions, return of capital, and equity contributions for various legal entities;
  • Ad-hoc analyses as required by management and stakeholders.
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Review and analysis of annual operating plans and quarterly reforecasts of our various structures;
  • Review, analyze, and explain variances in financial statements, including revenue, expenses, and capital assets;
  • Review cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient funding to meet operational and development requirements.
Process Innovation and Controls
  • Lead projects focused on continuous improvement and oversee their successful implementation;
  • Ensure compliance with Oxford’s processes and controls;
  • Liaise with other departments, including Capital Markets, Treasury, Tax, and Legal.
Qualifications
  • University degree and Professional Accounting Designation;
  • Minimum of 2 years in a managerial role with related experience, preferably in real estate, from a mid-size or Big Four firm;
  • Strong understanding of IFRS;
  • Experience managing within international organizations and in a multi-currency environment;
  • Experience with complex organizational structures and consolidations;
  • Leadership and team development skills;
  • High attention to detail and ownership;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Process management and improvement skills;
  • Results-driven with critical thinking;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; exposure to Workiva is an asset; ERP & Consolidation systems experience, preferably JD Edwards and Hyperion.
