KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services in Toronto is looking for a Manager to join their dynamic team supporting Financial Services (FI).

The team is committed to providing excellent service to clients, leveraging members' strengths in a collaborative environment. We seek individuals passionate about financial industry technical accounting, reporting, and project management, capable of handling complex challenges including financial instruments, consolidations, securitization, and understanding valuation principles under IFRS, US GAAP, and ASPE.

Ideal candidates are independent thinkers with strong project management, research, writing, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly. Practicality and client-focused advice are essential. This role offers opportunities to develop technical, analytical, and communication skills, as well as business acumen within financial services and growth within KPMG.

Responsibilities
  1. Deliver accounting advisory engagements under IFRS, US GAAP, and ASPE, managing client expectations and project deadlines.
  2. Stay current with financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
  3. Assist clients with financial statement preparation, working papers, and liaising with auditors.
  4. Evaluate accounting and reporting standards, draft reports, and analyze differences across frameworks.
  5. Develop tailored solutions considering client preferences and constraints.
  6. Support operationalization of financial, risk, and regulatory reporting.
  7. Collaborate with other KPMG advisory teams on process redesign and impact assessments.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 5 years of experience with complex financial instruments, including hedging accounting.
  2. Relevant degree and/or CPA, CA or recognized accounting designation.
  3. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills, with ability to interpret complex standards.
  4. Knowledge of financial instruments, consolidations, securitization, etc.
  5. Experience in financial services industries such as banking, insurance, credit unions, broker-dealers.
  6. Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex ideas.
  7. Strong project management skills, leadership, and ability to meet deadlines.
  8. Proficiency in Excel, including macros; experience with system implementation and data modeling is preferred.
  9. Willingness to travel within Canada, the U.S., and internationally as needed.
