Alberta Health Services seeks a Manager for Facilities Maintenance & Engineering (FM&E) in Medicine Hat. You will lead a team of unionized trades and maintenance workers, directing operations for six rural centres and the regional hospital within the Southeast Southern Corridor of HSS.
You will ensure compliance with ABSA and OHS, develop maintenance programs per CSA standards and OEM recommendations, and optimize building utilities with energy sustainability focus.
The Manager has a key leadership role in the Facilities Maintenance & Engineering (FM&E) department, of theCapital Management portfolio of Health Shared Services (HSS). The Manager has responsibility for the operation and maintenance of 6 rural health care centers (Brooks, Bow Island, Milk River, Taber and Oyen) in the Southeast part of the Southern Corridor of HSS. The manager supervises a team of approximately 25 unionized trades and general maintenance workers in the operation and maintenance of the named facilities.
The Manager is responsible for directing a team of qualified staff to operate and maintain healthcare facilities under their supervision. The Manager is accountable to ensure that facilities are operated and maintained according to legislative requirements including Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA), and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS). The Manager is accountable for the creation and implementation of maintenance programs that align with CSA standards and OEM recommendations. The Manger is responsible for ensuring that building utility systems are optimized and that energy sustainability is addressed. The Manager is responsible for the recruitment, training, and performance management of the staff who report to them. The Manager is responsible for liaising with key stake holders at various levels within the organization.
A degree, diploma or trade certificate. Minimum 5 years of experience in management of complex building systems. Minimum 5 years of experience managing in a unionized environment. Highly proficient with computerized maintenance management software. Highly proficient with Microsoft Office. Extensive management training.
