Job summary

The Maître D’ role at Carmens Group's C Hotel by Carmens in Hamilton leads the front-of-house team during events, ensuring attentive service and smooth event execution. You will welcome guests, coordinate with kitchen and management, and adapt to changing needs throughout events.

Candidates should have banquets/catering/restaurant experience, a valid Smart Serve certification, and availability for evenings and weekends. A strong, calm leader with a guest-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in banquets, catering, restaurants, or another busy service setting.
• Valid Smart Serve certification is required.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, event-based hours, and closing shifts.
• Reliable transportation for late-night shifts; a valid driver’s license and vehicle are preferred.
• Clear communication and leadership skills, along with the ability to guide and support a team.
• A welcoming approach and commitment to excellent guest service.
• The ability to stay calm and make sound decisions during event service.
• Dependability and a hands-on approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the on-site ambassador for the venue, confidently representing Carmens Group with professionalism and warmth
• Lead and coordinate the front-of-house team during events from start to finish
• Welcome guests, respond to requests, and address concerns professionally
• Review menus to ensure knowledgeable service and communicate allergies, special meals, and guest preferences
• Monitor service timing, food presentation, and event flow
• Assist with food and beverage service and clearing as needed
• Keep the team informed and focused when plans change
• Work with the Banquet Manager and share feedback after events
• Additional duties as assigned to support event execution
