Job summary

S&R Group in Ontario’s long-term care sector is seeking a Maintenance Worker to keep our Home safe, comfortable, and running smoothly for Residents and staff.

You will perform general maintenance and upkeep across plumbing, heating, cooling, electrical systems, plastering, painting, and safety checks, prioritizing tasks to meet daily needs while maintaining logs and inventory. You’ll work with a team dedicated to quality and resident well-being.

Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge of building and fire codes in long-term care facilities.
  • Willingness to respond to emergency call-ins as needed.
  • VSS check completed within past 6 months and TB test updated within the year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and upkeep of the building, including plumbing, electrical, plastering, painting.
  • Prioritize tasks according to Home needs.
  • Move resident and non-resident furniture safely within the Home.
  • Maintain logs and records for work performed.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in proper working order.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and track work schedules.
  • Monitor the Home for safety issues and report concerns.
  • Adhere to policies and standards to maintain a safe environment.
  • Support special projects such as carpet cleaning or backup maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to emergency call-ins to ensure continuity of a safe environment.
  • Support the team as needed.

Maintenance work keeps our Home safe, comfortable, and running smoothly, ensuring Residents and staff have a clean, functional environment every day. Help support some of the most vulnerable people in your community in this role.

  • Performed general maintenance and upkeep of the building, including plumbing, heating and cooling systems, electrical repairs, plastering, painting, and other assigned tasks
  • Prioritized tasks according to the needs of the Home
  • Moved resident and non-resident furniture safely within the Home
  • Maintained logs and records for work performed, including materials and equipment used
  • Ensured tools and equipment were in proper working order
  • Assisted with preventative maintenance, utilizing computerized systems to track work and schedules
  • Monitored the Home for maintenance and safety issues, taking action or reporting concerns as appropriate
  • Adhered to all policies, procedures, and legislative standards, ensuring a safe and compliant environment
  • Supported special projects such as carpet cleaning, painting, or backup maintenance tasks
  • Responded to emergency call-ins to ensure continuity of a safe environment
  • And supported your team as needed.

Qualifications
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of building and fire codes in Long term care
  • Must be available for emergency “call-in’s”
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) check completed within the past 6 months
  • TB 2 Step updated within the last year
