Job summary

Carewest is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre in Calgary to perform complex maintenance and repair duties.

You will work under limited supervision on mechanical equipment, boilers, and related systems, ensuring safety and reliability in a health care setting. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years’ experience in large building maintenance, a valid Class 5 license, and basic computer skills for AHS e-Facilities.

Qualifications

• Requires 5th class Power Engineer Certificate or combination with Special Boiler Operator's Certificate.
• Must possess valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• 3–5 years of experience in large building and equipment maintenance, including boiler operations.
• Basic computer skills for daily use of AHS e-Facilities system.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of complex mechanical equipment and systems.
• Monitor, control and repair boilers and cooling systems; boiler checks.
• Lead or assist as needed in maintenance leadership roles and document logs.

The Opportunity

Position Summary

Under limited supervision, performs a variety of skilled and complex maintenance and repair duties in accordance with accepted standards and procedures. This includes checking, testing, installing, repairing and maintaining complex mechanical equipment and systems such as washers, dryers, dishwashers, and non-biomedical equipment; monitoring, controlling and repairing boilers and cooling systems; responsible for boiler checks; performing renovation and structural repair work; keeping logs and records; implementation and completion of preventative maintenance program; ability to take on a leadership role when necessary. Responsible for other related duties as required.
