Job summary

Extendicare Athabasca is seeking a Maintenance Worker for our long-term care facility in Athabasca, Alberta. The role involves general and preventive maintenance across the site, with reporting to the Support Services Manager.

Responsibilities include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks, with safety and regulatory compliance emphasized. We offer a part-time casual position with a competitive total rewards package and opportunities to contribute to safe, well-maintained living

Qualifications

• 3-5 years relevant experience with mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry.
• Technical training in building maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Work safely following established safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maintenance and repairs on facility systems and equipment.
• Monitors areas for maintenance needs and documents preventive programs.
• Repairs belts, motors, hinges, HVAC, beds and fixtures as needed.
• Maintains plumbing and electrical systems; replaces valves, drains and fixtures.
• Performs carpentry tasks: tiles, drywall, doors, painting.
• Refer specialized work to outside contractors when approved.
• Follows quality, fire, safety and infection control policies.
