Job summary

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or property operations.
  • Experience coordinating preventative maintenance programs, work order systems, and contractors is preferred.
  • Certification in related trades is asset but not required.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Regional General Manager: Operations & Strategic Projects, the Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities across ACE Casino properties. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all building systems, equipment, and facilities through preventative maintenance, repairs, contractor coordination, regulatory compliance, and project support. The Maintenance Coordinator works closely with internal stakeholders, and external service providers to minimize downtime while maintaining a safe, comfortable, and exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities & Duties
Facility Operations & Building Maintenance
  • Maintain the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all casino buildings, facilities, grounds, and property infrastructure.
  • Receive, prioritize, schedule, and monitor maintenance work orders.
  • Perform general building maintenance including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
  • Assist with landscaping, irrigation, exterior maintenance, and seasonal property upkeep.
  • Support event setup and teardown activities as required.
  • Administer the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Maintain accurate equipment asset records, preventative maintenance schedules, and repair histories.
  • Ensure maintenance documentation/reports are complete, accurate, and audit-ready with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations including equipment failures, flooding, power outages, and other facility emergencies with focus on business continuity.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities and provide guidance to maintenance personnel as required.
  • Communicate maintenance priorities, project updates, and operational issues to management.
  • Collaborate effectively with Operations, Surveillance, Security, IT, Food & Beverage, Finance, and external contractors.
Preventative Maintenance
  • Develop, adapt, coordinate, and execute preventative maintenance programs for all building systems and equipment to improve lifespan, reduce downtime and increase efficiency- aligning with manufacture recommendations/warranty as necessary.
  • Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventative maintenance tasks of building systems, equipment and property including routine inspections with focus of continuous improvement and safety.
Repairs & Troubleshooting
  • Identify, diagnose, install/replace/repair and address all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility concerns/projects using appropriate testing equipment, diagnostic tools, maintenance and root cause identification as necessary, scheduled or directed.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimize operational disruptions.
Contractor & Vendor Management
  • Act as the primary site contact for contractors, consultants, vendors, and service providers to coordinate installations, inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, warranty work, and building upgrades.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with ACE Casino standards via confirmation work for quality, compliance, and operational readiness.
Inventory & Procurement
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) for maintenance projects.
  • Identify required materials, parts, tools, and equipment prior to commencing work.
  • Coordinate the identification of procurement of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support daily operations.
  • Obtain quotations and assist with purchasing maintenance-related goods and services.
Project Responsibilities
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance shutdowns and emergency repair projects.
  • Participate in facility renovations, equipment replacements, and capital improvement projects.
  • Assist in developing project scopes, schedules, and contractor requirements.
  • Coordinate project activities to minimize operational disruption.
  • Support infrastructure improvements across multiple ACE Casino properties throughout Alberta.
Multi-Site Support
  • Provide maintenance and support activities across multiple ACE Casino properties and affiliated businesses throughout Alberta.
  • Travel between locations to support maintenance activities, capital projects, and emergency repairs.
  • Overnight travel may be required depending on operational and project requirements.
General
  • Other duties as assigned or directed.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or property operations.
  • Experience within the hospitality, gaming, entertainment, hotel, or commercial facilities industry is considered an asset.
  • Experience coordinating preventative maintenance programs, work order systems, and contractors is preferred.
  • Journeyperson certification in Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Millwright, or another related trade is considered an asset but is not required.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, contractors, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Requirements
  • Valid unrestricted Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence with provision and annual update of a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must have and maintain a clear police background review. May be required to provide annual updates.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Be available to respond to emergency maintenance issues outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and on-call assignments as required.
  • Travel between ACE Casino properties and affiliated businesses throughout Alberta, including overnight travel when operationally required.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation as required.
Certifications
  • WHMIS Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Calid and recognized Standard First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
  • Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform (Scissor Lift), Forklift, and Confined Space certifications are considered assets.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and work throughout multiple casino properties.
  • Occasionally work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms while following all safety procedures.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, kitchens, utility spaces, and other operational areas.
  • Perform repetitive movements involving reaching, twisting, bending, crouching, and overhead work.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, testing instruments, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
  • Use computers, tablets, mobile devices, and office equipment for documentation and communication.
  • Work in a casino environment with moderate to high noise levels and frequent interaction with guests and team members.
