Job description

We are currently seeking a building technician to support the maintenance of our properties located in Montreal. In this role, your mission will be to ensure the cleanliness and accessibility of the buildings, as well as carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, structures, and related systems. You will also be responsible for performing minor repairs and, upon request, completing work for tenants.

Work schedule: Tuesday to Saturday (40 hours per week)

Main Responsibilities

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of premises

  • Maintain the interior and exterior of buildings to an exemplary level of cleanliness;
  • Ensure secure access to buildings for tenants, visitors, and suppliers (access cards);
  • Perform minor repairs such as replacing fluorescent lights or defective parts, adjusting heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems;
  • Ensure execution and follow-up of seasonal maintenance work;
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as painting and repairing various architectural elements of the buildings (doors, door handles, flooring, faucets, etc.);
  • Notify the Property Manager of any abnormalities.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment

  • Ensure the proper functioning and operation of electromechanical building systems and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of various equipment and systems with external vendors;
  • Inspect roofs of all buildings and drains, and report any anomalies;
  • Inspect building components and identify issues such as plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, emergency lighting, pumps, fire alarm panels, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, windows, signage, water valves, parking signage, and pavement conditions;
  • Participate in annual fire system and sprinkler inspections with the security team and follow up on corrective actions when required;
  • Monitor the proper functioning of building smart systems (HVAC controls, camera systems, door access systems, lighting, irrigation systems) and ensure updates are completed. Engage external suppliers when necessary after consulting with the immediate supervisor.

Respond to tenant service requests at existing sites, including comfort complaints, water leaks, door repairs, and other maintenance needs. Support commercial tenants with specific requests such as waste removal

Skills Profile and Required Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • High school diploma (DES) or vocational diploma (DEP) in a related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance with similar responsibilities;
  • MMF certification is an asset;
  • Knowledge or interest in electromechanical building systems and HVAC control systems;
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in French.
