Maintenance Technician

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00am-1:30pm

Location: 13506 159 Street, Edmonton, AB T5V 0C6

Wage: Starting from 31/hour

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this individual will perform a variety of skilled mechanical maintenance and repair duties on various types of equipment in accordance with accepted standards, regulations, and procedures. Some general building maintenance duties will also be required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to safe work practices.

  • Accountable for the effective functioning of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and systems in the facility.

  • Accountable for the effective installation of new equipment or the installation, welding, and fabrication of new equipment.

  • Responsible for repairing non-trade issues and general plant maintenance tasks including but not limited to, caulking, changing lights, painting, etc.

  • Will oversee the start up for the boiler and all required maintenance checks.

  • Accountable for ensuring a clean organized work area (toolboxes, shop area, parts area). Ensuring all tools are in good working order.

  • Review and/or complete documentation/records to ensure accuracy and completion for Quality Assurance and regulatory bodies as required.

  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting potential food safety issues.

  • Accountable to adhere to and utilize company policies and procedures, and HACCP regulations.

  • Accountable to ensure a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and visitors.

  • Plan and execute production to fulfill all regulatory as well as SQF requirements.

  • Perform any other duties as required.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Power Engineering Certificate (minimum Class 5)

  • Must have 3-5 years of facility maintenance experience

  • Millwright year 1-4

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, food processing equipment set up, hydraulics, pneumatics and troubleshooting. Welding and machining experience would be considered definite assets.

  • The maintenance worker has frequent physical demands which include extensive standing, walking, bending and lifting of heavy equipment and supplies.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, along with team building and problem solving are desired attributes.

  • Preferably with PLC experience would be an assist.

Work Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee may work non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. The employee may occasionally be required to travel as business needs dictate (i.e. training, business continuation, etc.). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
