Job summary

AGAT Laboratories seeks a Maintenance Technician to join our Calgary team and ensure facilities and equipment operate at peak efficiency. You will handle painting, minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and safety compliance while maintaining accurate records.

The role emphasizes versatility across electrical, plumbing, mechanical tasks, and general building upkeep. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, 2+ years in a technical trade, and relevant maintenance experience,

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in a Technical Trade.
  • Two years’ experience as Maintenance Technician.
  • Operator Certificate or equivalent trade experience.
  • Must hold a valid Alberta Driver’s License.
  • Forklift and Manlift experience a definite asset.
  • Some lifting and carrying (up to 22kgs).

Responsibilities

  • Perform surface preparation, painting, drywall/wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and clean-up of the area.
  • Maintain and store equipment safely and orderly.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and keep records.
  • Test, troubleshoot and repair electrical and plumbing components including lamps and outlets.
  • Return building to normal operating status promptly and inform management of emergencies.
  • Ensure safety of self and coworkers in line with Health and Safety requirements.
  • Install and maintain machinery as directed by Operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Maintenance personnel are responsible for ensuring that amenities are operating at maximum efficiency. You will be dealing with all manner of maintenance tasks ranging from painting through to plumbing and electrical.

What you will be doing:
  • Perform all surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, light bulb and A/C filter replacement and the complete and thorough clean-up of the painting or repair area.
  • Maintaining and storing equipment in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance where required and maintain all records.
  • Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment, plumbing, electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, replace electrical switches and outlets.
  • Act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status and inform Management of any such emergencies.
  • Ensure own safety, and the safety of co-workers and follow all Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
  • Install and maintain a wide range of machinery as directed by Operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Emphasis in Technical Trades, two or more years’ experience in a Technical Trade.
  • Two years’ experience as Maintenance Technician.
  • Operator Certificate or equivalent trade experience.
  • Must hold a valid Alberta Driver’s License.
  • Forklift and Manlift experience a definite asset.
  • Some lifting and carrying (up to 22kgs).

This position requires proficiency in any one of the following categories:

  • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
