Job description
Minimum Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Tasks
- Design prosthetic and orthotic devices, such as artificial limbs, braces, or supports based on physicians' prescriptions and examination of patients.
- Ensure the information on prescriptions is accurate.
- Fabricate prosthetic and orthotic appliances.
- Fit and make adjustments for proper fit and comfort.
- Repair, build, and modify prosthetic or orthotic appliances or footwear.
- Assemble or build prosthetic and orthotic appliances according to drawings, measurements, and plaster casts.
- Examine and measure patients to develop working sketches of appliances.
- Take body or limb measurements of patients.
- Interpret physician's specifications.
- Make and modify plaster casts.
- Repair and maintain fabrication and laboratory equipment.
