About the Role :
As the leader of our Maintenance team, this position is responsible for planning and directing the work of our Millwrights, Electricians and Apprentices while managing numerous projects and supporting the facility, machinery and equipment to ensure safe and effective operations. The Maintenance Supervisor will use data to drive their decisions, looking at trends in breakdowns, durability of parts, and other factors to ensure well-rounded maintenance support and a strong PM program.
Key Duties & Responsibilities :
- Supervise the maintenance team, providing guidance, direction and support to the team to ensure the plant runs safely and efficiently with minimal downtime;
- Manage the skills of the maintenance team, ensuring skills are developed and cross-training occurs, when needed. In addition, help facilitate a successful apprentice program;
- Analyze data and trends to aid in deploying and maintaining effective PM program;
- Work with purchasing to ensure spare parts inventories are sufficient and there are no downtime risks due to parts not being available;
- Manage numerous projects relating to new equipment installations, equipment improvements, health and safety improvements and facility improvements, ensuring the proper safety measures are taken. Coordinate external contractors for PHSR and ESA reviews, as well as other work required in the facility;
- Conceptualize, justify and implement cost reductions;
- Implement systems and procedures to assist the maintenance function in being more efficient, looking for health and safety improvements, downtime improvements and cost savings improvements, where possible;
- Function as a primary resource relative to lifting equipment, fire control systems, pressure, process water systems, coolants and lubricants.
- Assist with submission of requisition expenditure approvals for major projects;
- Attend production meetings every morning to go over machine break downs and any other concerns.
Experience :
- High school diploma;
- Minimum of five years leadership experience;
- Minimum of five years working in a die cast facility, plastic injection or related industry preferred;
- Proficient in MS Office software - Word, Excel, Outlook;
- Excellent communicator, able to relay complex technical / mechanical information to others;
- Ability to develop and nurture a team, recognizing and utilizing individual strengths in each team member;
- Team-player with a positive attitude and ability to prioritize and manage a heavy workload.
