Job summary

Aquatera-Utilities-Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team at treatment plant facilities.

You will oversee preventive, corrective, routine and on‑demand maintenance, ensuring safety and efficiency in line with established processes and external requirements. Key duties include managing the team and contractors, CMMS workflow, and coordinating preventive maintenance programs, while supporting training, safety meetings and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Journeyman certification preferred; mechanical/electrical engineering background asset.
• Ability to lead, motivate and coordinate maintenance team to meet safety/operational goals.
• CMMS experience is an asset.
• Facility operations and maintenance work experience.
• Experience supervising in a union environment.
• Ability to adhere to processes relating to facility operations and maintenance.
• Ability to maintain and repair mechanical, electrical and control systems.
• Mechanical, electrical and control system troubleshooting skills.
• High level of environmental, health and safety mindset and safe work practices.
• Strong client-service orientation with a high sense of urgency.
• Support and participate in a culture of continuous improvement.
• Effective communication for data relay, feedback and clarification.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance team and contractor activities to meet daily performance goals.
• Adhere to Aquatera’s asset management policy and standards.
• Oversee maintenance work orders in CMMS and initiate approvals.
• Coordinate and assist in implementing preventative maintenance program.
• Identify, record and escalate deficiencies and maintain related documentation.
• Coordinate and participate in facility-related projects.
• Supervise contractors as part of facility-related contracts.
• Provide, participate in and support training, safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Review reports, drawings, as-builts, contract specs and provide comments/recommendations on maintenance components.
• Review capital plan and advise on additions/deletions and timing of maintenance projects.
• Assist with emergency response coordination.

About the Role

We are looking for a maintenance supervisor to lead and support the maintenance team in delivering preventive, corrective, routine and on‑demand maintenance services for treatment plant facilities. In this role, you will ensure maintenance activities are performed safely and efficiently, and in alignment with established processes, best practices and all applicable internal and external requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the maintenance team and contractor activities and performance


• Adhering to Aquatera’s asset management policy and standards


• Overseeing the maintenance of work order records within computerized management maintenance software (CMMS); initiating documents to obtain formal approval of work required


• Coordinating and assisting in the implementation of preventative maintenance program


• Ensuring that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documentations are maintained


• Coordinating and participating in facility-related projects


• Supervising and interacting with contractors as part of facility-related contracts


• Providing, participating in and supporting training, safety meetings, operational meetings, toolbox talks, etc.


• Reviewing reports, design drawings, as-built, contract specifications and providing comments and recommendations on maintenance components


• Reviewing capital plan and make recommendations for additions, deletions and project timing on maintenance components


• Assisting with emergency response coordination

Qualifications and Required Skills

• Journeyman certification as a millwright, electrician or instrumentation technician is preferred. A background in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related designation, would be an asset


• Ability to effectively lead, motivate and coordinate a maintenance team to meet daily operational and safety goals


• CMMS experience is an asset


• Facility operations and maintenance work experience


• Experience supervising in a union environment


• Ability to adhere to processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance


• Ability to maintain and repair mechanical, electrical and control systems


• Mechanical, electrical and control system troubleshooting skills


• Possess a high level of environmental, health and safety mindset and ability to perform work in a safe manner


• Possess strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency


• Support and participate in a culture of continuous improvement


• Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification
