Job summary

AQUATECH is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead daily operations, maintenance, and staff at the new WWTP in the Rocky Mountain House area. You will supervise operators, coordinate tasks, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

We value hands-on leadership, strong communication, and problem-solving ability, with a focus on continuous improvement within Canada’s largest private water services operator.

Qualifications

  • Current Level III Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification (proof of certification is required).
  • Previous supervisory or lead operator experience, overseeing operational staff.
  • Ability to lift 25 kg (55 lb).
  • Intermediate to advanced mechanical knowledge.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operation, maintenance, and staff performance of the Water & Wastewater facilities.
  • Schedule, supervise, and coordinate daily activities of plant operators and staff.
  • Provide operational support, troubleshooting, and technical guidance.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide coaching and training.
  • Prepare and review weekly, monthly, and annual reports.

Job Description

Supervisor Main Responsibilities

Working under the guidance of the Operations Manager, you're responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and staff performance of the Water & Wastewater facilities. This position will report to the area Operations Manager.

The main responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily activities of plant operators and operational staff;
  • Oversee the daily operation (regulatory monitoring and reporting, process adjustments, chemical transferring and maintenance) of the facilities;
  • Provide operational support, troubleshooting, and technical guidance for plant operations
  • Monitor staff performance, conduct; evaluations, and provide coaching, training, and mentorship to operational staff;
  • Maintain required inventory and inventory control of critical spare parts, chemicals, & consumables;
  • Create maintenance requests and lead development of work scope quotations with our Technical Services Group for scopes of work within the plant facility;
  • Oversee monitoring of Lift Stations as required;
  • Oversee monitoring of Storm ponds as required;
  • Review and compile data of daily inspections, monitoring, and sampling as required;
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance tasks across the team;
  • Review laboratory analysis and reporting for accuracy and compliance;
  • Prepare and review weekly, monthly, and annual reports as required;
  • Participate in required meetings (in-person & remotely), representing the operations team;
  • Lead, enforce, and ensure team compliance with all aspects of the company's health and safety program;
  • Act as the primary point of escalation for operational issues and client inquiries.

Hours of Work

The Operations Supervisor position will be a Monday – Friday work week totaling 40 Hours/week.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Current Level III Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification (proof of certification is required);
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or lead operator role, overseeing operational staff;
  • Ability to lift 25 kg (55lb);
  • Intermediate to advanced mechanical knowledge;
  • Ability to work under pressure quickly and efficiently;
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Microsoft Office program experience;
  • Strong independent worker and team leader;
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate with staff members;
  • Positive attitude and able to promote a positive image of AQUATECH.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Training certificates in H2S, First Aid, Confined Space, and TDG;
  • Supervisor safety training courses considered an asset.
