Job summary

Salary Range: $95,000.00 To $105,000.00 Annually

The right work needs to happen at the right time. Technicians need clear direction. Safety standards need to be followed consistently. Work quality needs to be verified before equipment returns to service. Operational priorities need to be balanced without compromising reliability, food safety, or compliance.

When those pieces aren't managed effectively, downtime increases, equipment performance suffers, and risks escalates across the operation.

As a Maintenance Supervisor at Vitalus Nutrition, you'll lead frontline maintenance execution, coordinate daily maintenance priorities, and support the development and performance of maintenance technicians. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance Planning, Reliability, and Leadership teams, you'll ensure maintenance work is executed safely, effectively, and in alignment with production and reliability objectives.

Lead and Develop Maintenance Teams

• Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to maintenance technicians.
• Reinforce expectations related to safety, quality, conduct, and maintenance standards.
• Coach employees to improve technical performance, task ownership, and accountability.
• Address attendance, performance, and reliability concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Foster a culture of engagement, development, and continuous improvement.

Drive Effective Maintenance Execution

• Coordinate maintenance resources based on equipment risk, operational priorities, and workforce capability.
• Ensure planned, corrective, preventative, and emergency maintenance activities are executed effectively.
• Adjust priorities as operational conditions change while maintaining maintenance discipline and safety standards.
• Manage equipment breakdowns, production interruptions, and resource constraints using sound judgment and clear communication.
• Ensure unfinished work is documented, communicated, and appropriately followed up.

Ensure High Quality Maintenance Work

• Verify maintenance work is completed to established standards before equipment is returned to service.
• Confirm equipment functionality, safety systems, guards, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
• Reduce repeat failures, immediate rework, and maintenance-related losses through thorough oversight and verification.
• Ensure deviations are corrected before equipment handover to Operations.
• Manage temporary repairs appropriately and ensure follow-up actions are documented and completed.

Support Safety, Food Safety, and Compliance

• Ensure maintenance work is performed in accordance with safety, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Verify permits, lockout procedures, isolations, and energy control measures are applied before work begins.
• Protect product integrity and equipment condition during maintenance activities.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe working environments.
• Identify, communicate, and address safety or compliance concerns promptly and effectively.

Improve Reliability and Maintenance Performance

• Identify recurring equipment failures and drive corrective actions.
• Support improvements to preventative maintenance tasks and maintenance strategies.
• Identify planning, material, workflow, and execution gaps that impact maintenance effectiveness.
• Focus maintenance efforts on activities that improve reliability and reduce unnecessary work.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable operational value.

Coordinate Across Departments

• Work closely with Operations, Maintenance Planning, Reliability, Engineering, and Leadership teams.
• Communicate equipment risks, resource constraints, and operational impacts clearly and proactively.
• Support effective shift handoffs and collaboration between teams.
• Coordinate contractors, shutdown activities, and maintenance resources when required.
• Build strong relationships that enable timely decision-making and operational success.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience directing maintenance work through others.
• Working knowledge of CMMS/EAM systems, maintenance planning, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate contractors, shutdowns, and maintenance activities.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety practices, permit-to-work systems, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to make decisions, solve problems, and balance changing operational priorities.
• Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.

Assets

• Trade certification in a maintenance-related discipline.
• Post-secondary education in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management, or a related field.
• Experience in food, dairy, beverage, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to maintenance planning, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
