Job summary

British Columbia Rapid Transit Company is seeking a Senior Maintenance Planner to develop and streamline maintenance planning processes for our SkyTrain systems. This role is vital to ensuring safety and compliance in maintenance protocols.

Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE: Provides senior level maintenance planning expertise to develop long term and short-term maintenance plans and ensure the maintenance activities are planned and implemented efficiently according to industrial regulations/standards and BCRTC maintenance strategies, policies, procedures. Partners with maintenance managers to ensure the highest standards of safety, efficiency, productivity, asset reliability and cost effectiveness.

Duties & Responsibilities

Designs, develops, and documents maintenance planning and scheduling policies, procedures and standards according to BCRTC maintenance strategy and asset management standards. Streamlines the maintenance planning process and ensures the maintenance policies and procedures are followed consistently across the maintenance departments through communication and guidance to the Maintenance Managers.

Leads the development and finalization of Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP) of assigned maintenance departments. Leads maintenance planning meetings and ensures the Annual Maintenance Plan gets appropriate approvals. Liaises with multiple stakeholders in Engineering, Maintenance, Capital Projects, Finance and Procurement through planning and execution. Ensures the Annual Maintenance Plan meets technical/regulatory/safety standards of the assets, improves asset reliability, coordinates with operations and capital work and is cost effective and achievable according to the workforce and resource level.

Provides senior level of planning expertise and ensures the Annual Maintenance Plan is properly communicated to maintenance managers and maintenance schedulers. Develops Monthly Maintenance Plans according to AMP to make sure the work plans are developed into weekly and daily schedules. Monitors the implementation of monthly maintenance plans, and coordinates changes as required. Responsible for “Runtime Forecasting” process execution and outcomes in assigned area.

Develops performance metrics for assigned area and conducts performance/productivity analysis. Generates control charts, regular and ad hoc reports, and dashboards to assist the measurement of maintenance performance relating to the AMP. Analyzes maintenance performance versus goals and targets and recommends improvement plans from planning perspective. Identifies potential risks and opportunities according to the analysis, recommends action plans and alerts the Manager and Director on the critical issues.

Develops and maintains work packages for maintenance activities which includes safety and risk assessments, maintenance procedures, permitting submissions etc. Archives work packages for future reference in the Asset Management System. Responsible for dissemination of work packages to relevant stakeholders for review, endorsement, and execution.

Education

Requires an undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Planning, or a related discipline.

Qualifications

Requires four (4) years progressively responsible experience working within a planning, scheduling and preventive maintenance environment including implementing continuous process improvements and work standards, preferably in rail and transit systems maintenance.

Work Schedule & Compensation

40 hours per week.

Work Designation: Resident. This position works predominately on-site.

Rate of Pay: Wage: $55.03 per hour. All new employees will be subject to a 6-week trainee rate at 75% of the hourly rate.
