The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Maintenance and Engineering, and working closely with the Maintenance Manager and other Area Managers, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and planning maintenance activities across the site.

Key Responsibilities/Results
  • Responsible for all maintenance planning and scheduling activities involving maintenance crews.
  • Shares responsibility for ensuring all personnel are aware of, and compliant with all regulations, policies, procedures and standards, and that due diligence is maintained.
Key Actions
  • Responsible for the generation, execution and closing of work orders, including recording information as it relates to maintenance work performed by PCT crews.
  • Assists the Managers, Maintenance in the coordination of maintenance crews as well as outside contractors and other service providers. Confers directly with Shift Managers, Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Forepersons and crews regarding maintenance activities.
  • Assists the Materials Coordinator / Maintenance Engineer with the acquisition of materials required for the Company. Maintains ability and job knowledge of Materials Coordinator / Maintenance Engineer to assume all job functions in the event of absences and vacations.
  • Regularly inspects and monitors progress of field maintenance activities and provides updated schedules as required.
  • Drives crew efficiency by holding Forepersons accountable for crew supervision.
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of computerized planned maintenance software. Develops improved planned maintenance procedures for all plant equipment.
  • Improves and enhances the computerized maintenance system to properly record equipment information, including the addition of new information, deletion of old equipment and maintaining equipment history.
  • Participates in special projects as assigned with an emphasis on technical solutions to productivity and safety problems.
  • Monitors completion of required maintenance documentation from crews for all operating shifts and reviews and transfers identified clean‑up needs to Operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring the cancellation of work orders is justified, recorded, and well‑communicated.
  • Supports the Manager, Safety to ensure that the health, safety, and environmental programs are followed and are effective in establishing and maintaining safe working objectives.
Education and Credentials
  • Mechanical or Electrical‑related trade, certificate, program or engineer in training (EIT) is preferred; Mechanical or Electrical‑related experience and asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in maintenance, preferably within a relevant or comparable industry or on‑site experience.
  • Project management or maintenance management program certificate is an asset.
