Job summary

J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Planner to organize and optimize maintenance activities, ensuring safety, reliability, and high plant productivity in a heavy industrial environment.

The role collaborates with operations, supervisors, tradespeople, and contractors to plan work with minimal production disruption. Responsibilities include scheduling, creating detailed work orders, coordinating shutdowns, and maintaining the CMMS while prioritizing safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma, trade certification, or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related discipline.
  • Experience in maintenance planning or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain weekly and long-range maintenance schedules.
  • Create detailed work orders with labor, parts, tools, permits, and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate planned shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance projects.
  • Review maintenance requests and prioritize work based on safety and reliability.
  • Maintain and optimize the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Ensure parts and materials are identified, ordered, and available before work begins.
  • Analyze equipment history to identify reliability improvements.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Monitor backlog and plan to reduce overdue work.
  • Collaborate with production to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with budget planning and contractor coordination.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Description

The Industrial Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and plant productivity. This role works closely with operations, maintenance supervisor , tradespeople, and contractors to ensure maintenance work is executed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to production.

What You’ll do:

Qualifications
What you’ll need:

  • Experience in maintenance planning, maintenance supervision, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices preferred.
  • Experience using JD Edwards, or similar systems, considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
