Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging position to join our operations team:

Maintenance Planner

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

Reporting to the Sr. Maintenance Planner, the successful candidate will mainly be responsible for fixed maintenance planning and scheduling activities as well as assisting with mobile equipment and electrical planning from time to time. This proactive approach will maximize our availability and reliability while providing technical assistance and guidance to the maintenance teams. The planner will be responsible for planning and committing the weekly and shutdown maintenance schedules done through SAP.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with SAP daily;
  • Continuously develop and improve the overall maintenance and reliability programs;
  • Develop, complete, and drive standard maintenance procedures;
  • Ensure that short- and long-term maintenance plans align with operations goals and objectives;
  • Plan and work closely with parts technicians to ensure parts and consumables are available as needed and prepare “job kits” for work orders in conjunction with the warehouse;
  • Review work requests and provide feedback/schedule as required;
  • Develop and manage the maintenance programs by determining the specific work required to maximize equipment availability at minimum cost and with minimum unplanned maintenance;
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules and KPI reports;
  • Review KPIs with leaders to promote improvements to the overall process by identifying gaps;
  • Spend time in the field as required to become familiar with the equipment and shop setups;
  • Continue to develop our CMMS (SAP) and SAP master data cleanup;
  • Organize the SAP functional location structure;
  • Conduct weekly planning and scheduling meetings as well as shutdown planning meetings;
  • Assist in the development of long-range maintenance plans in various areas;
  • Develop a component tracking program for long range planning and budgeting purposes;
  • Build relationships with OEM suppliers and 3 rd party labour contractors;
  • Work closely with maintenance supervisors, other planners and maintenance personnel daily;
  • Manage and contribute to site project meetings as a maintenance representative;
  • Review equipment PMs and make changes as required; and
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2 or more years maintenance planning or mechanical experience is desired;
  • SAP maintenance experience is desired;
  • A thorough understanding of fixed plant processing plant equipment and hoisting equipment;
  • Experience with shutdown scheduling, Short- and Long-range maintenance planning
  • Proven oral, written, and active communication skills;
  • Advanced computer skills are required. Specifically, SAP, Microsoft Excel and MS Project; and
  • A Highly organized, motivated, self-starter, who can work with minimal supervision and put an emphasize on safety in the workplace.

Schedule: 4/3 (Monday-Thursday), 10-hour shifts OR 5/2 (Monday-Friday), 8-hour shifts.

No camp available. Relocation assistance to one of the local communities may be available for qualified candidates.
