Job summary

North American Construction Group is seeking a Maintenance Planner for the Fort Hills site. You will track equipment, develop weekly maintenance plans, and ensure the maintenance program is followed safely and efficiently through the work management system.

You will coordinate with maintenance supervision to allocate parts, labor, and shop space, while monitoring plan progress and reporting on compliance and performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Maintenance experience required in industrial construction or mining environments.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with planning tools (JD Edwards, MS Office).
  • Capable of strategic and tactical thinking with a drive to meet quality, cost and schedule targets.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment list in the site database and update service/PM status.
  • Create and manage weekly maintenance schedules and work orders.
  • Track equipment hour meter readings and regulatory docs.
  • Coordinate between shop and field for planned work and resources.

Maintaining accurate list of equipment on site
  • Keeps equipment database in JDE current
  • Track daily equipment hour meter readings
  • Updates Maintenance records with current Service and PM status
  • Ensures regulatory documentation is current
Work Order Management
  • Creates work orders as required
  • Manages Work order backlog
  • Ensures open work orders meet required standard, and status is kept up to date
Oil Sampling Program
  • Prepares samples for analysis and reviews results and generates follow-up actions as required
  • Review and apply on board equipment monitoring data to identifying
Component Tracking
  • Updates component records; maintains accurate component history
  • Updates component failure tracking system
  • Identifies warranty opportunities and prepares background information for warranty claims.
Weekly Maintenance Schedule
  • Responsible for developing and communicating the Weekly Maintenance plan in conjunction with maintenance supervision.
  • Ensure resources are in place to perform the planned work (Parts, Labour, shop space etc.)
  • Monitors compliance to plan, and reconciles plan vs actual
  • Monitors progress of actual planned work through shop and field visits
  • Generates weekly and monthly plan compliance statistics
Job Planning
  • Prepares job plans for planned work
  • Organizes resources in advance to ensure efficient execution of planned work
  • Orders parts for planned and found work as required
Administrative Support
  • Generate weekly and monthly reports as required
  • Support clerical staff in data entry and work order administration
General
  • Complete adhoc reports and projects as requested
  • Maintain a safe work environment in regards to all maintenance work
  • Provide direction to junior planners and aide in personal development
Qualifications
What Makes You The One
  • Minimum one year experience relating to maintenance
  • Industrial construction and/or mining experience preferred
  • Mechanical related secondary education (Diploma or Degree)
  • Capable of both strategic and tactical thinking with a drive to meet quality, cost and schedule targets
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Detailed working knowledge of planning tools (JD Edwards, MS Office Package, etc)
All Successful Candidates Must
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  • Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • Urine Drug Test
  • Fitness-to-Work Assessment
  • Audiometric Testing
  • Vision Screening

Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

  • OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness

  • Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness
