Job summary

CertainTeed in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Maintenance Planner to coordinate day-to-day maintenance activities, ensure parts and resources are available, and align schedules to maximize equipment reliability and plant performance.

You hold a diploma in Engineering Technology or a technical trades background, 3–5 years in maintenance planning, and CMMS experience (MP2/SAP a plus). Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Engineering Technology or related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • CMMS experience; MP2 and SAP are assets.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Strong organization, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Define scope for corrective, preventive, predictive, and reliability activities.
  • Develop procedures for safe and quality work execution.
  • Translate asset management strategy into practical maintenance tasks.
  • Manage site service contracts and maintenance programs.
  • Integrate maintenance with production schedules to minimize disruptions.

CertainTeed has an exciting career opportunity for a Maintenance Planner based in Calgary, Alberta, to join our Maintenance team. About the Role

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for coordinating day-to-day maintenance activities and ensuring the availability of parts, resources, and schedules required to maximize equipment reliability and plant performance. This role serves as a critical link between maintenance and production teams, ensuring maintenance work is planned, scheduled, and executed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve maintenance planning and scheduling processes.
  • Define the full scope of maintenance work required for corrective, preventive, predictive, and reliability improvement activities.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance procedures that support safe, high-quality, defect-free work execution.
  • Translate the site's asset management and maintenance strategy into practical maintenance activities.
  • Manage and coordinate site service contracts, schedules, and maintenance programs.
  • Integrate maintenance activities into production schedules to minimize disruptions and maximize equipment availability.
  • Monitor, track, and report key performance indicators related to equipment reliability, maintenance performance, planning effectiveness, and scheduling efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with maintenance, operations, and external service providers to ensure successful execution of maintenance plans.
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary education, preferably a diploma in Engineering Technology, or a technical trades background.
  • 3 to 5 years of maintenance experience, ideally in a planning role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); experience with MP2 and SAP is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
