Job summary

Agropur Cooperative in Bedford, Nova Scotia, seeks a Maintenance Planning Specialist to organize and optimize maintenance work for plant reliability. Plan resources for scheduled interventions and analyze maintenance history to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Maintenance Planning.
  • DEP in Electromechanics.
  • DEP in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in a university program (building maintenance or industrial maintenance).
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Technical experience in automation, networks, electricity, instrumentation, control or other.
  • Experience in similar functions an asset.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing an asset.
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment an asset.
  • English, spoken and written, required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Rigorous and structured.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize maintenance work to carry out tasks efficiently and in accordance with quality and health and safety systems.
  • Plan the resources necessary for the plant's scheduled interventions.
  • Analyze and monitor the history of interventions and validate causes of deviations.
  • Communicate issues and solutions to stakeholders.
  • Complete performance indicators and maintenance documentation.
  • Participate in failure analyses and operational improvements as required.
  • Build and maintain planning, scheduling, kitting, 5S and other processes.
  • Implement the Operational Excellence Program (AOS) in maintenance and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Manage maintenance priorities according to operational needs and budget changes.
  • Responsible for the maintenance purchasing process, PO issuance, inventory and supplier follow-up.
  • Supervise the Buyer-Storekeeper in purchases of maintenance components.
  • Ensure supply of parts for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Receive subcontractors daily and coordinate start of work with permits.
  • Replace maintenance supervisor as needed and participate in after-hours on-call.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol: stop unsafe acts and report hazards; support safety programs.

Job description:

  • Participate, as required, in failure analyses and operational improvements
  • Build and maintain the system of planning, scheduling, kitting, 5S and other processes
  • Implement the Operational Excellence Program (AOS) in maintenance and ensure the implementation of the continuous improvement approach to maintenance
  • Manage maintenance priorities according to operational needs and changes in the maintenance budget
  • Responsible for the purchasing process to maintenance
  • Supervise the issuance of POs, inventory management, orders, invoice and supplier follow-up
  • Supervise the work of the Buyer-Storekeeper surrounding all purchases of components related to maintenance activities
  • Ensure the supply of the parts necessary for preventive maintenance and the resulting corrective interventions
  • Reception of subcontractors every day
  • Coordination of the start of the work including the various work permits
  • Replace the maintenance supervisor as needed and participate in after-hours maintenance on-call
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Safety Protocol
  • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures
  • Correct or report any observed safety hazards
  • Support safety policies and programs

Salary: $43.27 per hour, or $90,001 $ per year
